Yesterday, I really put UD8.0 through the paces. Here's my findings...
UD8.0 makes my DROID act like an entirely new device. As if it's running at 2.5GHz, or something there-about. And I'm using the stock 800 kernel. I have yet to get one single FC since installing. And lag? ... zero. Lastly, cold boot up time is about 45 seconds!!! That's about half the time as most other ROMs on my DROID.
Last night when I went to sleep at around midnight ... my DROID had been on for approx. 16 hours. I was at a friend's house using Google and YouTube quite a bit (as we compared my DROID to his iPhone). My battery was at 20% when I put it on the charging dock. My DROID hasn't seen that kind of battery life EVER.
I am totally in love with this ROM. It's just stupid. And I've been installing ROMs since last December, sometimes a new one every few days. This ROM is unparalleled by any other ROM. It's THAT good. Donating to the dev is NOT an option, it's mandatory.
The only issue I'm having is after moving files to and from the SD card. After unplugging, LP doesn't act right and I have to manually set many of my icons again. I followed the standard procedures for installing a new ROM. It's been a few days now on this ROM and always the same issue. Other than that, this is very nice.
I would love to know how so many of you get the batter life you get. For me, if the phone comes off the charger at 8 am, I'm down to 40% by 5:30 pm on a Sunday, which is my least active phone day. Ideas?

So far, im liking this rom so much im about to delete off my backups of Liquid, lithium and sapphire roms.
It's been a week and I am STILL totally impressed with this ROM. "THEE" best ROM to date ... from any developer. Bar none.
Still going on strong with this thing and I have never hit any lag at 1000/600 at ondemand. Battery life is just dumb. 27 hours with heavy use (3G especially).
Maybe it's just my Droid, but even with the LP tweaks, I didn't see the snappiness and lack of lag that most people have mentioned. Granted, when I needed to do something, the ROM worked - but there were too many times where there was a hiccup here and there in either redrawing a screen or switching screens.
Being a performance over aesthetics guy, the cool fonts and boot ani's I could tweak wasn't enough to make me keep the ROM - so I flashed back to LFY1.6..
This ROM didn't perform well on my Droid, either, and I really wanted it to after reading all these rave reviews and seeing the phenomenal customization options for myself. When I tried it last Friday evening into Saturday, the lag, FCs and error messages on my setup were unbearable. I started with the stock kernel and also loaded the slayher 1100 kernel that I've been using with great success on other ROMs, and had to switch back to a ROM on which I experience no lag or other errors.
I'm just curious here, but did you wipe boot/system/cache?
Yes, I ALWAYS wipe data, cache, system and boot when I change ROMs. In fact, even though there are many who think this is silly, I wiped each partition 3 times before loading the ROM. I'm sure it's my heavy Sweeter Home 2 theme that didn't work with UD8, but judge every ROM by how well it handles my SH2 theme. It's a dealbreaker for me if a ROM doesn't work well with my SH2.
