tmobile has already begun the same posturing it used for the behold2 update fiasco and that they are currently doing to cliq and cliq xt owners. tmobile has been formerly requested to release information on the froyo update for the mytouch line and has stonewalled. even going so far as to blame the delay hardware problems. this is all lies and stall tactics. what they really are saying is "hey if you want froyo buy the new g2." nevermind that tmo already promised the update stating it was "coming soon to all our mytouch 3g phones, not just our slide." this statement was posted in tmo's own mytouch mag. total bs and if i was a beating man, which i am living here in vegas, the mytouch slide will never see official froyo builds! at least not until the mytouch hd is released with froyo at the end of the year or if rumors are true it may be delayed as well into early next year. tmo will, however, probably lie yet again and say the phone can't handle it. i mean really has tmo given us any reason to believe them? bottom line no one knows if there ever will be an update and tmo has the worst track record with updates. half the time even when they do send them they do not work! just my 2 cents.

Sidebar: sorry for the misspelled title. Can't edit it and I know someone will point it out. My bad!

Like I have said for a month or two now if you want updates go to Verizon otherwise plan on complaining a hell of a lot to t-mobile until they give you a phone with the newest version of android.

The percentage of android users on T-mobile that "need" the newest version is probably small. Many hardcore android users jumped to Verizon for the Droid lineup so its cost effective just to swap out the handset for the few that will harp on the issue as opposed to updating everyone.

I have given up on the Slide. It is quick for its underpowered processor but its easy to tell it was a cheap excuse for a 2.1 device and never wowed the G1 faithful into contract renewals and many jumped on the droid 2 and x so now for the G2 they bump up the specs slighty, get rid of the childish looking plastic, slap froyo on it, HSPA+ support and hope that is enough to get the G1 users to commit.

I like the G2 living in a HSPA+ city but it will be my last T-mobile phone if they keep this up and the only reason I am doing it at all is it's not going to cost me a lot.

you'd think they learned their lesson when they lost so many consumers over the BH2 fiasco. was gonna hold out with my Slide until the HD comes out but not sure now. TMO can claim all day about it being "hardware issues" causing the delay, but we all now it's b.s. the Cyanogen team has already brought 2.2 to the Slide and the only "hardware" issues are the "shift" and "fn" lights not working and Bluetooth having issues (but even those are more likely software issues) but mine was having BT issues when stock.

it is such a shame to see the company that brought us Android doing everything they can to flush it down the toilet.

like I said on the xda board... TMO has 2 completely definitions of "coming soon"
1. Coming soon + Device = 14 to 30 days
2. Coming soon + firmware/software upgrade/update = 6 to 9 months... maybe, but more likely we are gonna tell you to piss off and check out our "newest top of the line Android device"

kind of like when I sent an e-mail to Samsux explaining my frustration and disappointment about what they were telling us about the BH2... "we are sorry for your issues but we will not be upgrading the Behold 2 beyond Android 1.6 but we are pleased to inform you we will be releasing the Galaxy S and it will be coming with Android 2.1"

My bet is Samsung told T-mobile that they wanted to focus on new handsets and asked if they would carry it even if samsung dropped support for the Behold 2 and T-mobile said it was ok. Same with HTC now.

New phones mean new contracts and more money.

WELL I guess it is a good thing I don't have a contract...but I also will never go back to Sprint and I can not justify paying Verizon prices on a cell phone plan.... rooting my phone seams like the only option for me.. but I have already told myself I would give them till Jan to send out this update.... after that who knows...

Rooting won't get you a stable 2.2.

Rooting won't get you a stable 2.2.

why won't it?
I have been a very stable 2.2 for almost a month along with a very stable overclock kernel for the last 2 1/2 weeks and the only force close I have had was caused by a bug in one of my apps that the developer of the app addressed and pushed out a fix for. the only issues with it are what I mentioned in my previous post... "Shift" and "FN" lights not working and Bluetooth issues. everything else is working beautifully. my wife has been running the same setup on her Slide about a day less than I have and has no issues at all with her's.

Yes rooting your phone does void warranty and if done incorrectly has the POTENTIAL of bricking.

Are there any actual official numbers for that? I know there were lots of complaints on message forums, but does T-Mobile - or anyone for that matter - actually have an official "x number of customers left T-Mobile because the BH2 wasn't updated"?

This is why i always leave my faith with the hackers..... **** the provider lol

I will be rooting VERY soon, maybe in the next few days :p

I really hate T-mobile right about now.

They send out the Mytouch Slide full with promises and everyone jumped on the first 2.1 device and and now they are finally releasing 2 powerful phones (G2 and MytouchHD) within a month of eachother and since the Slide was a flop (look at the enthusiasm for in on this board) they are making us wait for 2.2 like we did for 2.1.

this is why I get my stuff over at xda-developers... we have plenty of guys doing ROMs and themes for both 2.1 and 2.2, we even have a guy doing OC kernels.

main thing I come here for is to see what the latest is from TMO

That is why I complain to customer service until they give me a better phone.

I went from Highlight>Behold 2>Cliq>Slide>G2 this way.

You got them to upgrade you for free because you complained about not getting updates? How did you manage that?
No I just used little issues here and there as excuses.

So far on my slide I have used dropping wifi signal, power cycling when the screen times out, and the last one they sent me I had swapped for just horrid build quality. That thing creaked bad, had a stiff unresponsive keyboard, and the light sensor (which is horrible on the slide period) did not seem to work at all.

I should note I am not getting the G2 for free but I got $150 off and get to keep my Slide. I am hoping the one they are sending now has no issues so I won't have my buyer complaining.
