So my mom and I both got new Galaxy S phones yesterday and so far have had no problems, however, today I was helping her with her phone and I noticed that the display is off on her phone. It almost looks like the contrast is set too high or something. It's very strange. Does anyone know if this can be fixed on the phone or if we need to bring it back to the Verizon store?

Thanks,
Claire

Have you tried a factory reset?

Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset

I understand that the phones are new and bought together but there may have been a setting or an app downloaded that would mess with the screen settings.

Perhaps the brightness is set to low?

Settings > Sound & Display > Brightness

Try unticking auto, and cranking the brightness to the top to find if its maybe a setting or an application thats adjusted it.

If both these fail to achieve a look similar to your own I'd return it taking both back to show for comparison.

I would love to know such a trick which would REDUCE The brightness of this phone!! :p

I usually sit in a dull lit room with a pair of high strength sunglasses. Alternatively you could stare at the sun for a couple of days, that way you can get your eyes accustomed to the 5k kelvin before upgrading your senses to look at the 15,000 kelvin Super Amoled Galaxy S.

Or you could try Settings > Sound & Display > Brightness ;)

1.) High strength sunglasses arent an option since I already wear spectactles.

2.) I dont think my eyes will survive after looking directly at the sun for 2 days!! :p

3.) Brightness is already set to minimum possible level on the android device.

Now I would be ordering a privacy screen protector which claim to reduce the brightness by 35% and lets see how it goes!
