Same here, google nav is pretty amazing for a freebie! And it alerts you to traffic problems along your route (see the green dot at the bottom of the screen? if it turns red, click it and it will zoom you to the problem area, I think you then get an icon to look for an alternate route!)

I just cancelled my Orange maps subscription this morning because I've been so please with Google Navigation that I don't need to pay for Sat Nav any more (plus Orange maps was un-installed when I debranded). G Nav is easily as good as Orange Maps and my old Garmin Nuvi, the only drawback being that if you want to set a route in an area with no phone signal you can't, and even without 3g it can take a while to load directions. Because of this I paid for and downloaded CoPilot which works off line and which would give me SatNav cover for all eventualities, but was horrified to find that it took up over 20mb of phone space so uninstalled it straight away (and got an auto refund).

Hi, I have an HTC Desire. For the last few days I have been trying to download Copilot Live 8. Using Appbrain, I get the message " The requested item could not be found". Any ideas how to find the app? Thanks

Have you tried scanning the barcodes here - CoPilot Live v8 for Android: ALK Technologies ? I certainly managed to get it working on my Desire a few days ago.

Thanks for info but no joy yet. ALK provided me with the software again. I had to download it to my SD card but no instructions how to install the thing, I'm awaiting a reply. Google maps are great but useless when signal offline. Otherwise I wouldn't bother with another app.

There's a couple of relevant posts in this thread:

Trouble with Google maps as noted above - if there's no signal, or you're in a massive snarl-up with everyone trying to find a way out of it and all demanding data from the local cell, it just stops. One of the apps that has offline maps is a much better option - and why I still use my Tomtom One.
