edit: droid haters:
pc world
computerworld
---------------------< will update as y'all post up :) News fair and balanced is one thing, some "tech" writers fail is really what this is about.

I do google news in igoogle, and it seems like every single article from them is 400% pro iphone and 10000% anti-android (moto droid). Yet other online news is fair and objective.

I'm going somewhere with this, but hear me out. Most of their staff has tried to twist articles in favor of iphone over the last 2+ months. Even an editorial where they had one, but failed to mention the apps the installed, and had BAD battery life. I haven't seen any rebuttals, but they probably had their location set by GPS for weather and constant updates from what I can gather

I never see any followups that are pro moto droid, ever. I got a little ranty when I saw more in igoogle today in their tech section.

I wish I could block them :)

Anyone else start noticing they are flailing their personal iphones over actually spending time on a moto droid?

I don't care honestly. Do you like your Droid? I like mine, so all is well. People will hate the Droid, iPhone and BlackBerry that they AREN'T using, but if you like your own phone, what does it matter?

My point was that pcword hates anything other iphone.

I've owned iphone and modern winmo 6.5 devices, and the droid does! And it does everything very well! Not bad for a 1 year old OS!

------

What's funny is that I used to subscribe to their mag a long time ago. I would NEVER consider a subscription with them now based on this. And I do love my mags, I have many subscriptions!

PCworld? How about computerworld?!? This bag-o-vinegar Galen whatever has an agenda like nobody's business. He is called out in repeatedly in the comments section and when he finally replies, he completely misses the points of the critiques Deathmatch: Motorola Droid versus iPhone

If you look further into the site (not recomended as it only provides more hits to their garbage site), he has a number of other articles directly or indirectly attacking the verizon and motorola in ridiculous ways.

Sorry, wasn't pointing that at the OP. Just saw a bunch of troll threads and decided to reply. Gets annoying reading hate threads.

You just have to remember that the problems posted here are probably a fraction of the pleasant experiences.

It sure is easy to register and post a hate thread.

Let's see if this code works:

I LOVE MY DROID

I just see almost 100% hate coming from that site I mentioned. Just wondering if anyone else sees it? My source is igoogle on the tech news feeds. That gets me linked into that gawd awful place.

Added to my first post. We should rename this to "publications" that hate the droid!

Yeah, I used to work in the media "field" for paper publications. It just makes me sick how they are "bribed" (one "reporter" mentioned he got his iphone for free, and now continues to write anti-iphone articles).

Apples marketing is brilliant. They manage through using priveleged access, favors and flat out graft to get a much higher percentage of tech journalists and people of influence onto their bandwagon than are the general public. They use those assets to pump out the party talking points when necessary. When I see a review that gushes on and on about the 100+K apps, I know its coming from Cupertino. When a week or so ago a whole bunch of iPhone developers spoke out about the puzzling app store approval process, it was almost immediately drowned out by the story of >1< (yes he said many others, but none of them has ever stepped forward) game developer cutting Android development. The iPhone is good, but the marketing behind it is even better.

never had never wanted an iphone, oh yeah (im an iphone ...i can talk on phone and browse web at same time..... whatever!!!) for one its not the phone at all its the gsm network!! and yeah they can do that IF!!! they can get a signal! my bud had one and said it wasnt worth shit if he had poor signal and couldnt even do most of the stuff it claims lol i mean reallyfor what the droid DOES do it kills most anything out there right now and i am in the back hills of Tenn and get great signal even here (dont have cable internet so i have verizon mifi device for home internet and its very fast here) right now i am tethered to my laptop with my droid and getting speeds of 1.8mbps and am mostly surrounded by mountains so there att
anyway most all the back and forth is not about the phones but simple apps they run
the real phone features built in makes the droid kick major ass hell even my old omnia beat the iphone on so many of its reg non app/network based features.

Some just can't handle that this phone is damn near equal and at some points surpass the Iphone. With the onslaught of ads Verizon is pumping out, Dont be surprise is they exceed the 1,000,000 units sold mark by a few extra milllion

Well said! I think that pc word is a fanboi, and they can't objectively handle a competitor to their beloved free iphones.

I'll start off by saying that I'm a PC World magazine subscriber and have been for years. I'm not what you would consider a "fanboi" of anything, I like what I like because it does what I need. Yes, I would probably have joined the masses when iPhone came out except for the annoying problem that besides everything else it did well, it failed as a PHONE (dropped calls & very weak signal). Droid has it's share of problems, but has only been out a month. I look forward to new versions of these android phones and am happy (shocked actually) to see Verizon get on board.

Since PC World can't seem to see the value of "open source" and clearly can't be objective, my January subscription renewal will be food for my shredder.

I fiind it odd that when people tout the iphone, its always only about the "app store" and "multi-touch" (because that's the only reason to have a smartphone), and never about phone specs, built-in functionality, or features.

Yeah, the constant touting of the apps is really just pointing out all the things the iPhone can't do by itself.

My son has a favorite stick he keeps in the garage. When he's bored outside, out comes the stick. Need a sword? There's an app for that. Need a gun? There's an app for that. But at the end of the day, it's just a stick.

I had a iPhone 3G about a year ago, and it is a great device. The AT&T network is its biggest downfall, and lack of a real keyboard is a big problem for me personally. When it comes to games you can't beat the App Store, sure there are tons of crappy games but there are also hundreds if not thousands of awesome ones with PSP quality graphics. The thing is you can do all this with a iPod Touch so the iPhone is basically a big bowl of crap since it runs on a underpowered, overused network. AT&T's 3G is slower then VZW in most areas, and in others it is non-existent, you are expected to be ok with a 30% dropped call rate because AT&T considers that acceptable. You are suppose to be ok with paying $30 for data whether you get 3G or not, and no matter how bad your signal is.

My problem with Apple as a company doesn't influence my feelings about there products. They make some really nice stuff although it is generally overpriced, but the iPod Touch/iPhone OS is a really great thing, it can be used by just about anyone no matter what kind of experience they have with smartphones. My 3 yr old son loves playing games on it, and so does my 62 yr old mother, I'm 24 and I enjoy it too. But for a phone I require something with more to it like the DROID (or any well designed Android phone) has to offer. I also NEED a reliable carrier/network with 3G everywhere I work, I am a real estate agent and when a potential buyer wants to know the statistics of a certain area I have to be able to pull that info up quickly whether I'm in Boston or the Berkshires.

I hate biased reporters though....useless for there sole purpose. Apple is buying them off with MacBook Pro's and Air's.
