I've searched all over and couldn't find anything, hoping someone will be hable to answer this...

:mad:I'm having trouble with the resolution when setting a wallpaper to my Evo. I make sure that my wallpapers are 960x800, but every time I try setting a wallpaper, it forces me to crop just a small portion of the wallpaper and doesn't allow me to use the entire pic on my homescreen. I even use the green lines to enlarge with my fingers and STILL don't get a full 960 x 800 res for my wallpapers. Is there anyway around this stupid problem? I dont want to zoom in that makes the picture look crappier and doesn't show the entire thing.

I believe there was another thread I saw this solution, possibly the wallpaper thread. But if you put a finger on the green box, it'll pop out some arrows to resize. Like put your finger on the bottom green line, then drag down, and it'll resize and select the entire image. If that's the problem you're having.

Edit: didn't realize you were already doing that. Maybe try rotating the image? I don't know what else you can do or is causing the problem, works fine for me.

I haven't been able to replicate this on my Evo. I drag the box out to the full image size and everything looks great. Please let me know if you figure this out. Strange issue.

right now i have a picture of a Solider from the Modern Warfare 2 game and its not even close to that size its actually 600x500 and it fits the entire screen perfectly. When i zoom in with that box it doesnt let me select the entire photo it kinda just spreads into a small rectangular box which doesnt make sense.

I have the same problem. Even though my wallpapers are the right size, I'm still forced to crop which then makes the pic zoom in and distorts it. I found on another forum somewhere that the app Wallpaper Set & Save corrects this issue but it only helped a little bit. :( I've also heard that it's because the EVO uses the wallpaper to stretch on all 7 screens, but that cropping drives me nuts. I want the whole image, not just part of it.

In order to get a picture to fit and look right, you must send a large file from your photo editing software from your computer. In my case i use Google Picasa, just go to tools, options, and change the size of the file that you are emailing to your phone to 1200 pixels and then BINGO. It works the same on any other photo editor. Just send a large file. this way your phone will display it on all 7 home screens razor sharp. Remember, all emailed photos are compressed before they are sent. That is why you need to manualy change the settings.---Please let me know if this works for you.

Okay, I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but this is not that hard. All you have to do is put move the green square to the bottom left-hand corner of the image. Then, tap and drag the top right-hand corner of the green box until it stretches over the entire image.

If it is still forcing you to crop, then there are only two logical explanations:
1) Your wallpaper is 960 tall and not 960 wide
2) Your wallpaper isn't 960x800 or equivalent aspect ratio

To revive an old thread, I'm having this problem too. Everything worked fine until today, and I had full resolution wallpapers. Suddenly, for some inexplicable reason, when I go change the wallpaper, I get the green box that only lets me crop a small portion of the picture, and it comes out on the screen at a very low resolution. Some bit of corruption happened between yesterday and today, and I can't make it go away. Oddly, choosing the stock Evo wallpapers works fine, but choosing from my gallery presents the problem. Has anyone figured out a solution to this problem?

i am a new owner and took a picture of my fire engine and cant get it to fit the screen, it makes me crop it and its huge. I just want it to look smaller and the whole entire thing, i tried making the green box fit the whole picture but it still has the same outcome.

Anyone else with any other ideas ?

the only time I have seen this is if the picture is another dimension other than 960x800

the stock images are all that size ...the crop box will only allow you to crop that amount of the picture
