Mute button during calls

I love my droid, but have 1 major issue with it. It mutes my phone during phone calls. It happens at least once a day and it drives me crazy!! Anyone know how to fix this?!?

Does the screen go off when against your ear?

Well, I can't usually see the screen when it's on my face but I when I pull it away from my face the screen is black, and then comes back on after a second or two. I am assuming the screen is coming on when it's next to my cheek.

I had a problem with one way audio after the 2.2 update. No fix.....they sent me a refurb. The screen is suppose to stay off during a call so that the mute button can not be pressed.
