What's your average phone signal dBm?

Had my Droid for about 24 hours now and am impressed with the functionality and features, but the lack of phone signal is disappointing so far. I am averaging only about -96 dBm in my home. This is significantly lower than my EVO on Sprint. On the other hand, 3G for data is good - 3-4 bars.

What is everyone else averaging for dBM on the phone/voice, is it possible I have a bad unit?

I live in a good reception area. I average -73. What software is on it? Look in Settings/About Phone and see what it says under System Version. Try turning Airplane mode on and off, try the *228, option 2. And yea it could be a bad unit.

Does Verizon have good reception in your area? At my job its a bad reception area for Verizon.

EDIT: I just did *228, option 2 and I went down to -68...lol But I average in the low to mid -70's.

Well, at least I now know I don't have a bad phone. This morning I drove by the General Mills headquarters (tends to be a voodoo center for great cell phone signals) and I was getting -67...so it does have good reception in a clear area.

Wish there was something I could do to improve reception at home. I don't want to be placing any antenna on my roof or anything. I haven't dropped any calls...yet.

At what point (number) do calls usually start dropping? Is it -105 and beyond?

So, I bent over and bought a network extended for $149 ($100 off 249 as instant rebate). Now I've been seeing -54 to -62 for the last few hours. Hope it stays that good. Was it worth it? It was the difference between returning the phone to Verizon and obtaining another line with Sprint. I really want 2 separate providers. This is good - so far. Because I'm liking the DX...
