Root HOW-TO: Boot Animation Screen *Root*

I was looking for a specific boot animation that i had seen on youtube using the star trek lcars and when i googled it i found a link to xda (no surprise) anyway, I was able to flash it like i would a ROM or kernel, i didnt have to use adb or anything.

Is there a collection of flashable boot animations? or was this a unique circumstance?

*oh, and "Revive old thread!" :)

Wait, so how exactly do you 'install' a new animation? I tried reading..
Do you copy/paste and replace the original files on your phone?
Or do you flash the zip via Clockwork/Amon...?
thanks :D

That's the same question i had, it seems that some are made to flash while others are just the animations and possibly the sound byte to go with it. I had downloaded a flashable boot animation earlier and got to thinking that i could use the zip file to install any animation i wanted by simply copying the file and replacing the animation folder and .mp3 with what ever animation i had downloaded then re-zipping. I tested my theory and it work, i was able to flash a different boot animation using recovery.

from the bootanimation files i have seen, they are not flashable like a kernel or rom.

you have to install these via a tool or manually by adb.
