Root Some help pls

I'm a bit confused with all these firmware, there are lots and lots of them. Can someone tell me with one is the best? When i'm saying best i mean no reboot and the software has to run smooth.
Or some tips about firmwares.
IMPORTANT : One firmware with better battery life?

I tested:
I7500XXII7_E-plus downloaded from an germane site don't ask me how.
and now i'm using:
I7500XEJC5 the menu is a bit rough ( i've just instaled testing)

That's a VERY subjective question and you'll get different answers depending on whom you're talking to. Considering that you have the guts to reflash the phone at least twice, I recommend you move to galaxo (1.6.3.4 is the latest version, I believe). You should be able to find the tutorial on upgrading to it in the stickies of the "i7500 - All Things Root" subforum.

Please read ALL the instructions before you start flashing. For the most part, I think DaSchmarotzer's instructions are valid for 1.6.3.4 as well. And when you're finished, I highly recommend installing (optional) InFECT's DarkSense theme.

There are many who tried and succeeded to install Galaxo 1.6.x.x or GAOSP (Froyo -Android 2.2). I agree that it sounds kind of complicated (it did for me @ first), but with the willpower to learn something new you will also succeed in installing the ROM.
But if you have some question in your mind what to do or you're stuck somewhere, better ask for advice on how to continue then trying to solve it on your own especially if you don't know what you're doing.

Of course I've tried. Heck, I'm running galaxo 1.6.3.3 with inFECT's darksense (ver1.5) now! In fact, some of the pictures on that tutorial were taken by me!

Considering the way this discussion is going, I'm going to take back my earlier advice and suggest that you do NOT try rooting your phone.

To put things simply, if you find these instructions complicated, then debugging any potential problems that may come up will be a nightmare for you. We've had people here, who've done odd things with their phones that they couldn't figure out, and the only option left was to go back to a Samsung technician (and pray that they sympathize with you)

While I was using galaxo 1.6.3.3, BT was working fine (but only for headsets, since it's only Android 1.6, no BT file transfer) and I could reliably expect 2 days of use from my phone (3G & sync on all the time; wifi, gps and bluetooth off most of the time, little internet activity). So that means: charge overnight every second night.

There is a mis-understanding on your part. The GPS functionality of the phone has NOTHING to do with an internet connection. Case in point: I can run the app "GPS Test" without any network connection (NO wifi, 2G or 3G).

See, GPS works by receiving signals that are transmitted from satellites hovering above the earth. Technical details aside, for a regular user, what you get are GPS receivers. RECEIVERS. The more sensitive, the better. And for obvious reasons, they work better outdoors. (satellite can't see you indoors )

So, don't worry - you don't need an internet connection for GPS to work.

A bit off-topic,
If you use google maps, they use both GPS data AND wifi to try and determine where you are.
