Watermark on Samsung Vibrant

hey guy's, so you know . yea, you know .. I don't know what the thing is called, but its like a little paper thats white . in the samsung vibrant, its beneth the battery. The white paper, is something to indicate if it has water damage . If it's red, that means it has water damage . Well ... My phone doesnt have that white paper .. Weird ?? my old vibrant had one . What should i do ?

EDIT . It doesn't have the paper at all . The paper's not white nor red . There's no paper there .. LOL

I'm talking about the Water Indicator ! I finally found the name for it . :p

go to your tmobile store, have them note it down. also call customer care, or better yet have the tmobile guy youre talking to in the store call and let them know.

Not again Jimmy! You really need to give up on the high tech phones and go back to something like this:

Think twice before you let T-Mobile know, I have experience with this, and trust me, they WILL NOT believe you.

I baught a phone on Verizon recently as a gift, the moment I got into my car, I started playing with the phone, took the battery cover off, and what do you know, the indicator was red. (ps...some indicators actually are pink/red by default, and only display a darker red grid pattern upon water damage). I rush right back into the Verizon store, guess what, they said I must have given it water damage within the 5 mins I owned the phone. You bet I raised hell, I got nowhere, I even called customer service, still I got nothing. I had my sister finally write a letter, she is an attorney, and they replaced the phone.

Next experience was with T-Mobile. Not my phone, but I went with someone to purchase a Bold. Again we get home, playing around with the phone, notice it had no water indicator sticker. I own a Bold also, so I know for a fact where the sticker is located. She called T-mo, they absolutely didn't believe her at all, and said the phone must have been tampered with, meaning we did it. Again raised hell, they wouldn't budge, and finally they said If we ever need warranty service, they would open the phone up and check inside for water damage.

You can call them, chances are they won't believe you, and they will note your account about the missing sticker as being tampered with. Sucks, but unless someone sues the company, then those misleading water indicator stickers will continue to be a hassle for everyone. You should read about the iPhone water sticker lawsuit. It was shown that potentially thousands of iPhone users were denied warranty service because the outside indicators would turn pink/red, and Apple/At&t was not actually opening the phone to check the interior. Now apple no longer denies claims on exterier markers being red, they actually open the phone up and check inside.

So, if your Samsung Vibrant is missing indicators, and in the future you need service. If they say NO, demand that they open the phone and check for interior water damage. If the interior doesn't have water markers, it doesn't matter, signs of water damage will still be visible.

Good luck.

ohh ferrr sure ! The first time was because T-mobile was weird, and wouldnt let me change my plan in store . So i had to get a new number and a new plan to get my vibrant . A week later i called t-mobile to cancel my old #, and they told me they could change my old #'s plan, instead of canceling .. All i had to do is return my vibrant to the store, and T-mobile would ship me a new vibrant for my old Number .

2nd time is because I was a little bitch, and had a fat scratch on my screen . So i returned it .

The third time was because the moment i got my vibrant turned on it turned off and never turned on again lol .

And now ! The fourth vibrant i got, does not have a water indicator . Karma's a bitch lawl

You better notify T-Mobile, while you might not care about it now it could effect you if you're needing warranty on the phone later on.

water markers are a joke anyway, if you really wanted to you could purchase replacement indicators from ebay or various cell phone accessory websites. You can even purchase the small round ones they put inside the phone.
I'm not advocating fraud, what I'm trying to do is prove a point. My point is these stickers often give false positives, you can be denied warranty service, even if the internals never had true water damage.

Companies should figure out a different way to avoid false positives. Some techs actually open up the phone, and inspect for corrosion and other signs of water damage, this is the way to do it, not to look at the stupid water markers.

It strikes me as unconscionable that a carrier would simply take the word of a sticker to claim water damage. You're exactly right...the phone should be opened up for a physical inspection. It's not hard to recognize water damage to someone with training and experience to spot it.
