Ok so first I wanna thank erisuser1 for making it very simple for me to root. I have wanted to root for awhile but I was very nervous to do so. I gotta it though all thanks to eu1 n the awesome universal walkthrough.

Now im kinda in a pickle? I dont know what is next. I really wanna make the look completely different from the stock sense look, but i did use xtrSense 4.2 as my first rom. I figured that it would be a good place for a noob to start. ive seen some pretty cool UI layouts, icons, and widgets. along with these i keep seeing stuff about an app called launcher pro, what is this?

Also I got some new apps on my phone that I didnt before:
-Latitude
-Places
-Quick Boot
-Superuser (i think that this is for the root)
-wired tether for root users
-wireless tether

I know that this is a lot of basic questions but I wanna make sure i do this right. any advice at all is welcome.
Also i thank everyone on this forum. i dont post alot but i do lurk and find out a lot of needed info.

Try Nonsensikal or KaosFroyo. They come with ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro built in giving you the choice of which one you want to use.

ADW and Launcher pro are just different home screens that replace the HTC sense layout you are familiar with. Much better than HTC sense as it allows for more customization of the screens and dock and I also like the fact that the home screen will rotate...something that sense won't do.

Latitude and Places were already on your phone if you had the 2.1 update. They were just buried within google maps and navigation.

The other apps and features you mention are common for a rooted phone using a custom ROM.

1. download the custom ROM and copy it to your SD card.
2. use vol up + Power to boot into recovery mode
3. do a nandroid backup of your current rom if you want to save all the settings.
3. wipe cache
4. wipe dalvik
5. flash new rom from sdcard.

You do not need to go through the whole root process again since your phone is already rooted from the first time you did it and stays that way.
