So Far Not Impressed

Hello Guys,
I am new forum member here, however I have had about 4 Android phones so far so I am not new to Android. However this phone is really not impressive at all!

I have lots of issues with this phone, and most of them are already discussed here in length, so I am only going to touch with the problem or issue I have encountered in the 4 days I had my two SFs.

1. Echo when talking a little loud into the phone.
2. Signal bounces from 2 to 3 and to 0 all the time, and when it bounces all data connection suffers. Some times I get no internet while I have 3 bars!!
3. Blue tint on the screen, two of my phone both had the same blue tint.
4. GPS signals sucked, glad there is a work around that's available.
5. Slingbox will not work at this phone at all. I had no problem with Droid or DX.
6. Phone/Data module will shut off for no reason and gives me a Blue icon indicating airplane mode, but you can't re-enable the phone, you have to unplug the battery to gain your phone and internet connectivity.

Am I lucky to have that many issues? hardly, most of the problem are already mentioned here, I am already on my second phone and so far I am not impressed. I am really hoping most of the issues can be resolved, but I doubt about the blue tint, unless some one releases a software for us to adjust the color temperature. Anyone can shed some light or how to fix some of the issues that I am having before I return this thing back to the store?

I agree with you.
I had incredible official froyo update and it was incrediblely fast and no problems at all.

This phone has lag and all kind of basic issue but, I'll keep this and hoping that update will fix all the issue. Who knows, i might pay $35 and return it. :)

If there is something wrong with the device and you exchange or return it then there is no restocking fee. :)

Unless you live in Hawaii, then there is no restocking fee even if there is nothing wrong with it. ;)

FALSE. They tried to charge me $35 for exchanging my Droid X for the Fascinate after using it for a few days and deciding it wasn't the right phone for me. Was a complete pain in the butt to convince them they needed to not charge me that crap. I'm sure it was in the fine print somewhere, but none of the kind folks that helped me pick the DX in the first place ever mentioned a $35 restocking fee, even though we discussed several times the possibility that I would want to switch it for the Fascinate.

Even so, they were really going to charge me. It's certainly not the policy with any other business I know of. Online stores might make you pay the shipping, but usually they'll do exchanges for non-defective product without charging a restocking fee. Part of what I would consider standard customer service.

I am very disappointed that Verizon tried to do this to me, and I will certainly be letting them know how I feel about it.

I have to respectfully disagree with there...Verizon makes it very clear, in the contract, that if you don't like the device and bring it back, there is a $35.00 restocking fee. If there is a defect that you can show when you bring it back, that's a different story.

Sales will do what they can to get you to buy something. As a consumer, it's up to you to pay attention to the fine print and ask the relevant questions.

If someone charges you shipping to return, that is a form of a restocking fee. Best Buy charges 15% I believe, and so on, and so forth.

You live in Hawaii? If you do, it says right in the fine print "There may be a restocking fee, except Hawaii."

Thanks for the replies guys and gals.. Well, I guess I am the only unlucky guys that has two phones all defective. I am not looking to exchange it again but returning it. But most of my issues has already been discussed in length, so it seems I am not alone. But I am happy for those of you that have no problem with your phones. Enjoy it! :)

btw, anyone who has slingbox care to test it out to see if their fascinate works with slingbox or not? Thanks!

Pekkle on both your phones do the volume rockers 'rattle'? Just shake the phone near the your ear to test it.

Sorry, the first one I didn't get a chance.the second one I didn't pay attention until I saw the thread. Yes the volume does have some play to it and from what I can tell, I am almost positive all of them will have some play. I don't like it, but I think I can live with it if I don't return the phone.

Thanks Pekkle! Its just very annoying and makes the whole phone very cheap.

I'm impressed, however there are some things Samsung could improve on.
Agreed. For an android phone its actually a bit more gimped than median average. However, things are getting better all the time. Rooted, lag-fixed and minus the bloatware [and bing-ness] its getting pretty decent for Eclair. There is no perfect phone, we'll always fine something to complain about
