New firmware

Just got a new wildfire - much enjoyment has come from it.

Updated to 1.25.405.1 straight away.

Obviously though this is likely horrific news - if this has just come, I doubt we will see soon (if ever) 2.2 froyo?

Damn.

I really wanted WiFi tethering, and Google searches led to 100's of articles saying unlocked Wildfires have 2.2 already! Lies, and wrong I presume? As mine certainly doesn't show anything...

Still though this new update works fine if anyone wants it. And deletes no data.

(Would 2.2 reset data if it comes?)

Oh, and hi everyone

Android 2.2 for Wildfire is coming, it is supposed to be released in the 4th quarter 2010, so sometime from the end of September onwards

Ye me too. It is slightly irritating as I keep thinking that maybe I will also not get the update for Froyo  Sigh

I sent a support email to HTC about this, their reply said...

"We let out our updates in batches to prevent our servers from beng inundated with over the air updates that need to be sent out. All I can suggest is that you hold on until the update comes through to the phone as your phone will be listed in one of these batches and you will eventually receive the update."

So it looks like we'll just have to be a bit more patient.

This seems to be the case...

When I first read this I checked and it said no updates available. Checked again this morning and there it is OTA_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.1.... etc.

I'll download it tonight as soon as I'm on WiFi.

BTW how big is the update? would it hammer my data usage to download on 3G?

If anyone has a nandroid backup of the stock 3 uk firmware could you upload it please, i forgot to back mine up.

Even if this would work on a different phone, it wouldn't be advisable. You would essentially have their phone, their email accounts, sms, contacts - all personal data. For all intents and purposes, you would be them.

Big no I'm afraid.
