Help Dropping Hero to go with Moment

Well....I LOVE my HTC Hero..BUT...cant stand the virtual keyboard..so...my Moment arrives later today via UPS...

I have fat sausage fingers that just dont work well with virtual keyboards...

Looking forward to playing with the Moment, sounds like a pretty decent phone but like most smart phones, has its share of issues...

Hoping Im making the right move although its really the only move for me due to the keyboard...:)

You will like it. Definitely a lot more boring than the hero, but still a great phone.

I think I may be switch back to the hero today. Love the moment, keyboard is great, but still think the hero is cooler.

Yeah but maybe Im just an old fart who cant deal with the virtual keyboard....I will have the Hero on a shelf to go back to if I want...

hmmmm

Can't do anything about physical looks, but with a little poking around the marketplace you can add almost all the gimmick apps to make a Moment just as laggy (and cool?) as a Hero.

I am sorry, not dogging the Moment at all. I really like the phone, you will enjoy it.

That said after having both for 28 days... and adding all the little things up... I think the Hero wins for me. Keywords "for me".

You will enjoy the change, and like you said you have a hero on the shelf if not. Kudos for you.

I hear ya...we shall see...Im looking out the window for the UPS guy like a 2 year old waiting for Santa...

When you get it, dont fall for the battery. I downloaded a widget that said my battery was at 50% when it was really at 80%.

Thanks for the tip!

I sat in the Sprint store for a LONG time playing with the moment and the hero, i ended up going with the moment because of the key board, i tried to post a thread asking a few questions on PPCgeeks and after about 5 minutes and a crazy ammount of spelling errors/frustration/rage i still barely had much typed in, picked up the moment and liked it a LOT better, after my Mogul i just cant have a phone without a physical keyboard

I was debating for the longest time on wether to get the Hero or Moment. After going through 3 Tours in a matter of a month Sprint allowed me to choose either the Hero or the Moment. I went with the moment for the keyboard. I wanted the Hero for the longest time, but I dont think I could get use too the virtual keyboard so I opted to get the Moment as my trade in. Im happy with it so far...

i have the hero, but my friend had the moment. i like the moment , but couldn't get past how much it reminded me of the mogul ( just alot better hardware ) lol. personally i prefer the hero. to me it is just easier to use. i have to put my tp2 on my acct mon-fri for work, and the hero is a good break from wm and carrying such a big phone around.

has anyone noticed that the moment and the tp2 are the same size? i don't know about wieght, but they are the same length and width. that is the other reason i didn't get it. it is a really nice phone though.

I waited to get the Moment instead of the Hero. It didn't matter to me that the Hero's UI was far better than the Moment's. I figured I would just change to a custom ROM once the Moment was rooted. However, I couldn't last that long. I ended up returning the Moment. I got the Hero as a replacement. Even though I loved the Moment's screen, I couldn't get past the BLUE keys on the keyboard. They were impossible for me to see. I tried to memorize the functions of the blue keys and I just gave up. I was using the Moment's virtual keyboards more and more. So I figured, why have such a thick phone if I am not even going to use the physical keyboard. One other problematic thing that was beginning to take place was the phone was starting to rattle in my pocket. The slider was starting to get loose. My Mogul did the same thing and it just drove me crazy. I do miss the Moment's screen. It was amazing.

I'm with the Moment, think I'm gonna stick with it. It's either this or a Palm Pre for me, the Hero is out of the question for me (pudge fingers FTL). I do rather like the Moment so far, and I don't think I'll be going with the Palm Pre. We'll see how it plays out over the next 24 days. So far not great though, I'm on my second Moment, though it was Sprint's fault. The hard plastic clip on cases they sell with it broke mine the first time. It wedges the top half up a decent bit, and prevents it from sliding anymore. The spring that retracts the screen when you slide it was worn to almost no return, and the screen (top part) had about a 1mm gap between it and the base. Don't know whether to blame Sprint, or the designer.

Other than that one mishap, I'm glad to this day that I have this phone.
My friends are jealous of it, and a kid at my school who currently has the Droid says he wouldn't mind having the Moment or the Droid, he likes both about the same. =D

I've played with all the "good" phones on Sprint and here are my views on the devices:

In Terms of Speed:
Moment
Hero
Pre

Features:
Moment/Hero
Pre

Hardware Attractiveness:
Hero
Pre
Moment

Hardware Quality:
Hero
Moment
Pre

Software Quality/Usability:
Pre - Hero (tie)
v v v (way down there)
Moment

My Overall Rating:
Moment
v v v v v (way way down there)
Hero
v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v v
Pre (don't get me started >:{)

Keep in mind that my sister owns a Pre and has had it since release and it's almost falling apart. I've owned the Hero for a month. And have had the Moment for a total of 2 weeks.
