Don't take a job where the hours don't suit you.
Wow, I'm actually taken back by the level of common sense in this thread.
There are questions that a employer can ask before hiring to weed out special needs. You can easily cross the line and break employment hiring laws. Still it can be done though.
I for one just have to say this anti-Islamic attitude in America these days is, well... very unamerican.
Most people you talk to today think that Muslims are all bloodthirsty terrorists that hate America. And by acting like this we are just perpetuating the stereotype. With fake-umentries like the demographic video on you-tube all this islamic propaganda really gets my goat.
I work for the state and the web filter blocks words like Muslim, Islam, and Muhammad... But not Christ, Jesus, or Christianity...
WTF

This country is all about religious equality, as long as your religious views fall into the Chrisitan category. It's a fact of life really, Christianity is involved in and the root of every decision this country makes. It's quite sad when you think about it.
Umm... well, that's a little conspiracy theorist... don't you think?
I think it would be quite impossible for Christianity to be at the root of every decision this country makes... especially considering there are people of many different religions in Congress.
Those laws are a joke too. I believe a company should be able to hire anyone they like. The funny part is that once your hired a company can treat you however they like.
This was NOT a Christian nation to begin with, not founded upon a Christian nation, if it was then why do we have the separation of Church and State? Because the "founders" say how that worked out in Europe and did not want it.
It these little things like people automatically saying that we are a Christian nation, we are not.
If we were a Christian nation, then this nation would be a Theocracy..
Oh and a curious question, when someone takes the stand and they are asked to swear to tell the truth ect, and they have to swear on the bible, but they are an Atheist, then what? If they say they will not swear on the bible, then what happens, is their testimony void?

I never argued that we WERE a Christian nation. Most of the founding fathers were deists. Heck, the stories of Ben Franklin and the Hellfire Club would probably be too much for most modern day people, regardless of religion.
On this side of the pond, you are allowed to take an oath with your hand on the holy book of your choice, or if not a believer, you make an attestation instead.
IIRC, you "solemnly declare, attest and affirm" etc. (I might have the order mixed up).
Your evidence is then held to be equally valid as that given under the religious oath.
As far as I am aware, the situation is the same in the Land of the Free, although the wording differs slightly.
There was nothing in the article to suggest to me that the jewish workers were being given any extra breaks/holidays over the christian or muslim workers, so there is no double standard. If I may, I would like to point out a double standard...
If I may, I would like to point out a double standard.
First of all, I do not think Muslims should be granted extra breaks to pray. End of that.
Now, onto the double standard. The Jewish community has been doing this for years. People have to bend over backwards to accommodate Jewish holidays, and Jewish observances. If you don't accommodate a Jewish persons religious observance, you can expect a letter from their attorney the next morning, and they will threaten you with a multimillion dollar lawsuit. Give me a break.
Everyone has a right to freedom of religion, but sometimes that right is taken way too far.
Company is either secular or not.
Endof.
As for bending over backwards for Jews, this is due to guilt for maltreatment of Jews for centuries by Christians, look at the way Israel gets away with eveything (if, say Morroco had used EU passports to murder an Israeli spy, we would have had trade sanctions already)
