I would venture to say this is so much of a no-brainer that you would have to be little off in the brain to argue otherwise. It's that much of a difference.

I just received my Seidio kit after returning the one I bought from HTC. Umm, where do i begin?

*CAN USE WITH OR WITHOUT SEIDIO PHONE CASE. I REPEAT, CAN USE WITH OR WITHOUT CASE

*Car Charger included

*Neck is at least two inches longer than the HTC version

*The part that holds the phone rotates 360 degrees

*Has a power output

*And is CHEAPER, although you have to pay S&H

I mean, c'mon? Who here can argue for the official model?

Ok I have the seidio car kit as well and love it. The problem I have is with the phone. I like to keep it in landscape mode, and use the aps car panel, custom car home and launcher pro which are nice because they make the icons bigger. But when you click on phone to make a call it stays in "portrait" mode instead on staying in landscape a big PIA when the phone is sideways. Any way to fix without rooting the phone?

I suggest going with a Bluetooth earpiece. BlueAnt Q2 is a GREAT one. You can effectively control your entire device hands-free.

Thanks for the help...now another question. I started a thread in the help section and got no response.

I recently got a new car dock (Seidio). I am having a problem with my Evo going into car panel mode. I checked the settings under "dock" and noticed that the "display mode" option is blacked out and I can't adjust it. It is set to automatic. I also selected "auto-launch" and it will not start once I put it into the dock. Any suggestions to "force start" Car Panel? I have not been able to get the phone into car panel period in or out of the dock.

Just to clarify I can manually get into car panel mode by selecting it, just wont automatically go into car mode when placed in the dock.

Please anyone!!

You can probably set your phone up to do this with Tasker. You can set Tasker to automatically launch the Car Panel app when it meets certain conditions. I was playing around with it the other day, and I set mine up to launch Car Panel and turn GPS on when the phone makes a connection through bluetooth and has a power connection (from the car power adapter).

Yes it stays put, but the dam home screen doesnt flip with it. Also it doesnt go into car panel when u put it in. Come on seideio thats just stupid. When i put it in the dock I dont want to mess around manually hitting car panel.

Hmmm....that sort of makes me wonder what the Evo uses to sense that its been put into a car dock (at least one that supports automatic detection). Is there a proximity hall effect sensor at a certain location to detect a magnet? Is there a pull-up or pull-down on one or both of the data lines? If its not too complicated of a detection, then maybe the Seidio one can be modified to auto-detect.

Tasker? Is that the ap listed out of the UK? Dont want to pay if it wont work.

i don't know its kind of ugly. does the phone stay put when in landscape mode?

has anyone tried the proclip one yet?

when this first showed up on the seidio website "under development" (which was a long, long time ago), the description said "not recommended for landscape mode" or something similar. they removed that after awhile. i guess, that's what took so long in development; it kept falling out when you turned it sideways.

The phone is very secure in landscape. Also has better viewing angles than the official version.

Frankly, this is about as much of a no-brainer as there can be.

I know you just answered this question but .... Im about to buy a car dock, and debating between this and the HTC dock. I could care less if it goes into car mode, or whatever. My concern is, it will be in landscape 100% of the time. Im not the easiest, or slowest driver. If I go whipping around a corner, or sliding through trails off road in my jeep ..... will it stay put in landscape? Also, is this ONLY windshield mountable? I seen HTC has a 3m tab deal to attach it to the dash also. My windshield is quite a stretch to reach from my drivers seat. The security of the phone in landscape will ultimately be my deciding factor on docks, so a very honest opinion would be appreciated. Thanks!

The Seidio kit comes with a 4m tab.

Next...

The Seidio kit is MADE for the any windshield. I don't know what the hell HTC was thinking making the official version with a fixed 3-inch neck. It practically unusable on most windshields, as it was on mine. The Seidio version fixed on the windshield is well within arms reach. Plus it has a neck extender as shown in the photos.

As far as being worried about it being secured in landscape mode -- don't. The phone snaps into the charge port and its rock solid when the vehicle's in motion.

Trust me, there is no comparison.
