Battery Problems..Sprint will replace phone

ok since the phone came out my phones battery has sucked....charged only when completely dead the 1st 3 times...my GF who did not do this and rarely charges her phone her battery runs circles around mine...while i charge mine nightly

many have had bad battery performance due to Time Without Service (TWS)...so i was near a sprint store and let them look at it...i was at 8hrs off charger and showing 52% TWS...my GFs shows 2% TWS and the techs at the store their phones 1-2% TWS...so i tell them there is an issue

they tell me oh well its the screen...its an advanced phone...blah blah....now i also carry an HTC Touch Pro 2 (WinMO) and those that know it sucks battery badly...after they do the RF testing and hard reset i wait 30 min in the store talking to the techs...check the battery and 51% TWS

so they are ordering a new phone...those who are having this problem i would suggest taking it back and get a new phone ordered...the more that do this the more likely it will be fixed...installing other programs to manage stuff and doing the airplane mode trick you are kidding yourself thinking this solves the problem

just thought i would share my experience

Actually it does, I used to only get 3-4 hours of usage, now I get 20+ hours per charge after my battery conditioned itself.

btw I don't even use juice defender anymore, it just took time for my battery to adjust.

Yep, what pflol said. It works.

The other day, I was at 30hrs unplugged and the low battery notification STILL hadnt come on yet. It was with light use of course. And my TWS when I checked it I believe was 6%

I got mine on launch day and my battery is awful. Thought it was weird that it turned on with the battery nearly depleted.

I unplug it from a full overnight charge. commute 20 minutes to work and my battery is at 85% when i get there. Basically just listen to music on the way. Is that normal?

I do the airplane mode trick and the battery trick every time I charge and started running juice defender this week and If I get 4-5 hours of minimal use I'm lucky...

My first Epic was like this. I'd take it off the charger at 7:30 am, be down to 40% by noon. Take it off at 5:00 and be down to 25% by 10 pm. I only charged my iPhone 3G once every two days.

My second Epic, I can make it through the day without charging. By 10 pm, I'm down to 10-15%, but at least I don't have to charge mid-day.

yeah i don't think the answer is conditioning the battery...because why would the battery dictate the TWS???? and since i have 2 in the house and 1 holds a charge better due to 1-2% TWS i will swap batteries just to prove it again.

oh and again her battery was not conditioned she just charges hers when she feels...while i conditioned mine

thanks

yea, anyone telling me that the battery life issues is just part of having a smart phone can jump off a bridge. There's nothing normal about unplugging fully charged at 7 am, having 20 minutes of calls, checking texts and 2 hours later being down to 65%. NO WAY!!!!!

that's insanely bad lol.... 7-4 job and I'll still have 60-70% left and I text and call ALOT. I don't do much browsing though.

I have yet to see my battery go below 40% besides launch day and I work 9-10 hours a day.

What phone/battery builds do you have?

edit: ie: today I took my phone off the charger around 8:30am and just got home around 3 and I still have 66% battery left... display was on for 3hrs and 42minutes

How are you guys checking the battery percentages? All I ever get from mine is 'charging' or 'not charging.'

to keep things the same on the measurement follow this to get battery use:
press menu (far left bottom button on the phone)
press settings
scroll to bottom press about phone
press battery use
then you can select each option and it will tell you more...to find TWS press cell standby

also just so you know every time you restart your phone (power off then on) or charge and then unplug it resets this information...so best to not do that to get a good idea

Lithium batteries don't get conditioned -- users do. They use all the functions intensively the first few days an then after that only as needed..
