Help my facebook contacts won't sync to my contacts on my samsung epic.

Am I the only one having this problem? I purchased my samsung epic a week ago and every since I've been getting the message that my facebook contacts is unable to syn at the moment an error of some sort, and too try later.WTH? My facebook calender syncs but not the contacts.I thought that it was th phone so I took it back to the sprint store they restarted my hard drive but it still didn't work, thy sent me to the repair center at another store and the general manager told me to go back and tell them to replace the phone and that I shouldn't be having issues so soon. Well I did that, they gave me a new phone and guess what.yep u guessed it,still the same issue.I went back to the repair center they played with it for 2 straight hours while I waited impatiently and still I walked away with the same problem. What the heck and I suppose to do now?????? Dang this pisses me off. A brand new phone and issues,so not exceptable. NOT AT ALL.

Hi, I'm a Sprint employee and Epic owner/user.

There was a problem with the FB app that came on the default ROM load not syncing contacts. The solution that has helped me and many other Epic 4G owners is to uninstall the FB app. Reboot your phone. Once up and good connectivity (or in wifi) open Android Market and search for the FB app. Install the latest version and set up with your FB id, choose preferences, sync options, etc. The issue should be resolved.

Sprint is proud to have you as customers. Thanks for your business.

I was frustrated when the phone wouldn't sync my facebook contacts and I could see there was a group called facebook but no contacts. Was playing around in the phone contacts and discovered how to get the contacts from facebook by accident. :D So I'm going to pass this on.

1. Go to contacts
2. Hold down on the first contact (you're not going to mess it up)
3. Select link contact (I was lost too, but don't worry)
4. Select "Get Friends" at the top ( o_O )
5. Select Facebook or Myspace and select who you want:rolleyes:

If you ask me that's a really messed up way to get your contacts and I have no idea why Samsung did it that way or why they didn't bother to mention that in their manual.

If you're not seeing facebook or myspace listed then you need go to your settings and set it up under accounts & sync. And if for some weird reason none of this works then you probably need to take it back to Sprint and get a different phone.

Sweet thanks!! I'll try this. It is kind of a weird setup, but hey whatever.

The question I still have is when & how will we be able to sync FB photos with our contacts the way you can on every other android phone? I don't want to download a photo for every single contact or travel all over the world to take new photos of the ppl in my contact list. Any ideas???

My photos synced when I got the contacts linked.

i have done all of the above things to try to sync my fb contacts with my normal google contacts. when i go into "get friends" it shows facebook as an option, however it is grayed out and will not let me tap it.

and installing the update and rebooting did not seem to fix the issue either. is there something else i might be able to try? something that i am missing?

thanks in advance. :)

How do you uninstall the FB app??? I go into Manage Applications, and select Facebook, it shows that it is Version 121, but there is no uninstall option. I try to select Menu, but nothing comes up.

After attempting to sync, mine says "Sync error." "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly."
aaah this is frustrating :(

If this has been going on for a few days, you might consider deleting your Contacts Storage data and letting the phone re-sync with gMail. If you do this, make sure you backup your gMail contacts on your PC before you start, just in case.
