Ok this thing stopped working again, I am subscribed to the beta program, and tried reinstalling it again, but no luck.

glad to help! I was stuck in the same position, getting really frustrated with the whole thing, and another forum member passed that tip on to me. I don't know how I would make it w/o swype.
I still cant get it to work. I've rebooted so many times. I've ran a search in root explorer and in astro for all swype instances, removed them, reboot, reinstall, and STILL not working.
I've also followed Swype's instructions removing all widgets, and shutting down all running apps and services..and STILL nothing. GRRR
On the first day the new beta came out, I tried all those steps, too, and failed over 10 times to get it installed. Finally, I tried one of the suggestions in the troubleshooting section of the Swype forum: I installed Swapper2 from the Market and temporarily enabled Swap (then when Swype installed, I hit the "back" key instead of "Done,") and, finally, Swype registered and allowed me to enable it. Then I disabled swap (just follow the instructions in the Swapper2 app) and uninstalled Swapper2.
I do a LOT of ROM testing for devs and I've found that installing Swype first thing after wiping partitions in preparation for ROM testing, and always using the "back" key rather than "Done" after Swype installs, makes it very easy.
Hope this helps!
Yeesh, what a process. Do you have a link to that support article? Just so I can read it in full?

I trust this method doesn't work with the old Milestone version.
EDIT: I'll just send to you in a PM.. apologies if I broke a rule, but its not pirated.
