Desire HD

Well there is supposed to be some sort of launch or maybe unveiling of a few new phones today (15th Sep). I have been looking around for some info on what is going off but havn't seen anything.

If anyone hears anything or sees anything please link and discuss here!

I was not sure whether I should wait for the HD one or just get the regular Desire one. Then, I realised that IF I would wait, I would have to wait several months because I never buy a brand new product because most issues are only discovered after a few weeks and months (like the famous iPhone antenna problem, or battery problems, or touch screen problems, stability issues, etc.).

So yeah, I'll be interested to see how it compares to the regular Desire but I doubt it would be worth waiting for.

No. EDGE and Wi-Fi only in North America. This was a European launch event.....

I just got the regular Desire for NAM 3G in the U.S. not too long ago, and had to get it from Canada because no GSM carrier in the U.S. has it.

Hopefully someday we will see it in a NAM 3G version. I'd love to have it and using it unlocked saves me $20 a month on my data plan.

What sucks is that the desire hd doesn't have ANY north american 3g frequencies. Both the european and asia model only have wcdma 900/2100 hsupa bands.totally sucks for us americans.

Guys someone from Italy has revealed Quadrant number for Desire HD, and the result has been posted to the benchmark site as well:

Smartphone Benchmarks - Compare and submit performance benchmark speeds of HTC, Motorola, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson and other smartphones

i think that's awesome. and with some tweaking and overclocking that score could go up to 2500.
