Help New here...Just got the Moment today!

Mine does this as well... it will usually display caller ID by 2nd sometimes 3rd ring. I have yet to have it not show caller ID. When I first noticed it happening I paniced and hit the end button thinking that would light the screen up...nope, I just hung up on the caller. Now I know just to have a bit a patience and wait for it.

Plus this method will make it seem like you are actually doing something other than sitting around waiting on someone to call. Do you really need to answer on the first ring? If someone does ask why it took so long to answer, you now have the opportunity to answer with something cool...."I have Obama on the other line" "sorry, I was on a conference call with Donald Trump"... be creative.

Whenever the phone application is running (the actual calling and receiving a call and on a call) the phone relies on the proximity sensors to regulate the keypad lock and screen off.. When you pull it out of your pocket, the proximity sensor turns the display off and takes a few seconds to register because it unlocks the phone..

Can you turn off the light sensor, or disable its in-call functions? I don't have a Moment yet, but the PDF manual does not mention any way to control sensor behavior.

Considering phones are almost always in pockets, cases or purses when you get a call, this seems like stupid behavior on the part of the designers. On the PalmOS phones, there is no sensor but there is a setting to "disable screen while on call." Works perfectly every time.

And so far this phone kicks ASS!! I had one question so far, when I get a call the screen flashes off and on and sometimes I cant see the caller ID. Is there a way to stop this and just stay on?

it should only turn off if u put ur hand or somthing in front of the phone or something it does it so you dont press buttons with ur face when your talking on the phone.

So if the screen is disabled while on call, how do you make selections such as "pressing 1 for English"???....if the screen is disabled? I dunno Palms but disabling the screen during the call on a touchscreen doesn't hack it.

It only disables if somthing goes in front of the sensor if you dont put nothing over the sensor you can use it just fine wile on the phone majority of touch screens have a sensor so you dont press buttons wile on the phone

Yes, but Palms also have a full keyboard you can use. If you disable the screen on an Android phone, there's no way to use the numbers while on a call, unless you open the keyboard, but that's not very user friendly when on a call.

If you've got to use menus while on a call, pull the phone away from your face, wait 1-2 seconds and the screen will come on. Then turn on the speaker and you don't have to put the phone back against your face.

If Samsung can shorten the lag time in the proximity sensor turning the screen back on, the issue would go away. But for now you just have to wait the 1-2 seconds it takes for the screen to come back on.

Maybe it is your choice of ringer. My screen comes on almost instantaneously the moment it starts ringing and the prox sensor works like it is supposed to. The only gripe I have is if I receive anything that causes the notification bar to activate, it wakes the screen and an accidental selection could occur at that time.
