Root Rooted, not flashed but can I use App2SD+

Like the title, I have a HTC Desire with root access (done using unrEVOked), and now I want to do my App2SD+, BUT I don't want to use a custom ROM, unless it is absolutely necessary/benefits outweigh the potential cataclysm that might follow.

Any ideas? Or do I really need a custom ROM?

You already have a custom ROM because you've rooted. You can go for a stock rooted ROM, which is more or less identical to what you have now.

Not really necessary. You can put your phone into recovery mode, mount r/w /system and copy the a2sd script to /system/etc/init.d/.
Of course, you have to do the right partition on the card.
At first boot after that, all your apps from /data/app and /data/apps-private (if exists) will be moved to ext partition on the card.
In attach is the file to be copied. After copy, you must set permissions: 644, root.root.

It won't work unless a ROM had been adjusted in a certain way. It definitely won't work on a plain rooted ROM.

a2sd script is a simple script who move some data from here to there.

Anyway, to the topic. If you want A2SD+ with a stock ROM, you can try this:

Install the second ROM or A2SD+ won't work, then install the A2SD+ mod.
