Samsung confirms Epic 4G Notification Light!!!!!!

Yesterday I sent a message to the Samsung Galaxy S Facebook page regarding the inclusion of a notification light for messages on the Epic 4G....Today they have responded back with "YES; it has a notification light for messages".....Though I have heard from a variety of sources that it indeed exists, it is even nicer to hear from Samsung themselves that it is included on the Epic 4G.....I have grown used to having it on the last few phones I have purchased.....But, now I'm hearing that the puzzle piece message screen may have been removed which is a real bummer....I've never rooted my android phone but this makes me want to do that when it becomes available....I can see why the carriers did the hardware differences but why would you mess with the software like that?

Me: Can you tell us if the Epic 4G has an external notification light for messages?....I have heard that it does but I have gotten no confirmation from anyone on this....It is a must have feature that I'm hoping has not been left out....Thanks!

Good question to ask.

I'm sure you thought of it since the Samsung TMobile Vibrant Galaxy S phone has no notification LED for missed calls, text messages, voicemails, emails. Very serious design blunder.
It's a dealbreaker for me.

Wow! So you mean to tell me that Samsung and Sprint were able to see that there was a feature lacking in thier other phones and fix the "design blunder" with the Epic? If only they would do that with other things too....

Here is how my LED is performing:

Missed Calls

Works great. Keeps blinking until I wake the phone.

For Texts

When the phone is on standby and I receive a text, the phone makes a sound and then the LED blinks EXACTLY 5 times and then stops. I have "power saving mode unchecked" as recommended.

For Emails: (IMAP, check every 5 minutes)

I get no notifications (Sound or LED) if the phone is in standby.

I've switched to Handcent for messages, which has much more configurability for notifications (and everything else, for that matter).

I do get a blinking LED when new mail arrives. Are you using the stock email app? I tried others, but have always gone back to stock. I do not have it ring or vibrate, in case that makes a difference, only put a notification in the top bar. The account settings don't have an option for the LED.
