Help LED flashes orange and green and won't charge

Title says it all.

When I plug the phone in, it begins to start flashing back and forth between green and orange. The phone also will not take a charge. USB is fine, as I can still communicate with the phone.

Take your battery out for five minutes then try again. I had a similar problem with my Incredible with a Seidio battery.

It doesnt take a charge using the wall outlet or USB to computer? I would also recommend what c_aus said.

its really intermittent. Took the battery out for a while and nothing. Plugged it in later and voila! charges.

You phone is overheating. Next time it happens you can feel the kickstand and it will be hot (careful). You have to let it cool down before it will charge. Mine does that once in a while when I first got it. Its doing it more and more now.

Also, make sure you are using the charger and cord that came with the phone. I used an off-brand one, which worked several times fine and then I started having this problem. I plugged the original charger in and everything worked fine again. Tried that other charger again and had the same problem, so I've thrown it out, and I only use the original.

You phone is overheating. Next time it happens you can feel the kickstand and it will be hot (careful). You have to let it cool down before it will charge. Mine does that once in a while when I first got it. Its doing it more and more now.

I wonder...could this lead to a damaged battery? Now its pretty much not working at all.

I took the battery out for an hour. In the AC and still no go.

My Evo started flashing amber and then green. I hurriedly got out the manual to look it up and - lo and behold - it's not an option.

In this case, nothing I did would stop it. I had to factory reset the phone.

I am a bit nervous about my Evo now.

Mine did the same when it was on the OEM charger - flashing and overheating. I plugged it into the micro-USB charger that came with my Nook and it charged up happily. I didn't try it on USB charging.

Oddly, the same OEM Evo charger, when attached to the Nook, only charges intermittently. My off-brand charger I keep at work charges my Evo with no problem. I'm just tossing the OEM Evo charger I think. Hopefully that's the only problem.

I think it really does have something to do with heat. This happened to me again and the EVO felt warm. Like the first time I was running the hot spot, so it was a bit toasty.

I didn't have to reset to factory this time though, simply cycling power did the trick.

Too bad HTC didn't bother documenting the error code though.
