Root behold 2, epic rooting fail.... total noob!!

ok so yea, first off im gonna totally admit to being a NOOB when it comes to all this "rooting" stuff....like adb, odin, pretty much im a dumb ass wit this...

but basically, i saw BH_MAN's "galaxy S ROM" running on the behold 2 videos on youtube. and i wanted to do that to my behold so it runs better and looks like android 2.0. upon reading the instructions i learned that the phone must be "rooted" first. i find a website called theunlockr.com that had steps to rooting.. but before rooting it told me to setup adb first(whats adb??).i downloaded the AndriodSDK file(deleted after it didnt work) and tried to do it jus as the instructions were but in the end when in cmd and i try to start adb i never get confirmation.... i really have no idea what to do and half of the instuctions are like Chinese to me...lol.. all help is must appreciated!! thank you!! :)

hardware:
emachine PC w/ 32 bit vista basic

behold 2 w/ 1.6
apps:
open home(paid)
better keyboard(paid)
advanced task killer
apndroid
lookout
unistaller
and a bunch of others..

ok so now i got 1 guy tellin me i dont need to root another sayin i do, use that link(link doesnt work, download link keeps sending me other places to d/l toolbars n crap). and im sorry guys but i did say im a dumb ass with this stuff.. i need a lil more then "go here" or "do that" .. like idk if any of u seen video step from theunlockr.com but they were very detailed ( just didnt work for me). if someone could give me a walk-through of what i need to do in regards to bh2(not just any android), in order, that would be sweet!!! thanks!

ok so far i got:

download odin.
download custom rom.
open odin.
select OPS-bh2 partition
select PDA- custom rom.mv5
turn off phone
connect usb
hold vol. down, ok, power- enter download mode
select start in odin to transfer- thats it!!

now 2 things???? 1. does that look right???? and 2. does the behold itself not need root? or is it the OTA 1.6 update???? or the custom rom's are "pre-rooted"???? i jus want to understand WHY i DONT need to root my bh2 when all videos and how-to's say root the phone first...

Some of the Roms have root some don't. You don't need root to flash Roms on this phone. And the steps are right

ADB is not only a part of the BH2 install driver, but it's also an app that runs in windows/dos cmd prompt. You need to DL the and install the Android SDK, then while in cmd you need to change dir to \android SDK\tools\ dir located on your pc pref. C:, then you can type your adb cmds to verify if your device is or not connected. In order to find out, in the cmd prompt, type "adb device" and press enter. It will give you status of your device connected to pc. If it shows "sgh-t939 - not connected" try unplugging the usb and reconnecting usb, then type above cmd again. It should say sgh-t939 - connected. Now if you don't even see the sgh-t939 under list of attached devices, then you may have a problem with the driver install for the BH2. If that's the case, I suggest you find a suitable driver to install the SAMSUNG Android USB Device which also installs the Samsung Android ADB Device. If you need any further information, please reply to this post.
