5 days from upgrade... decisonsss

I am only 5 days away from an upgrade and I have no choice what phone I want! I know there are tons of these threads... but its just information overload.

I went to Verizon and played with the three phones im looking at. fascinate, droid x, and Dinc. It seems to me that my favorite is the fascinate, but no one recommends it.

can someone help out with choices? I wont be rooting

I went to Verizon and played with the three phones im looking at. fascinate, droid x, and Dinc. It seems to me that my favorite is the fascinate, but no one recommends it.

For the most part, people are going to recommend the phone that they have.
I have the D2 and would recommend it, but i noticed it's not on your list of phones you want:mad:

The FAscinate community is not very big yet. But i would go over to their forum and see what they're saying about their phone. Samsung Fascinate - Android Forums

If even a few members are saying they're not happy with it, i would stay away from it.
I had an HTC Eris and we were telling people to pay a little more and get a better phone. So if it's really bad, you'll know.

No one is going to be able to tell which phone you should get. These phones you listed are all using 1Ghz processor, so it then comes down to form factor and the various little things the phones bring, each of which may be meaningless or valuable to you.

At the end of the day you're going to have to play with each one, and then choose.

To OP:

What are you going to using your phone for? That's a major factor in getting the right phone, just as much as finding one that you like best.
I would honestly recommend staying away from the fascinate due to its being 'binged' (all Google use removed from the phone except for gmail and gtalk), but its entirely up to you.

At the new HTC Lexikon:
If Verizon is intending to gimp their new phones and current ones like AT&T gimps their whole Android lineup with this bing rage theyre one, I can guarantee sales WILL drop drastically on all of their current and future phones. They're branded with the Google label for a reason, its not just decor.

Im a bit in the same situation. For me personally I want to simply replace my phone, my ipod, my hand held camera, and have the functionality of a GPS and browser all in one device. The Droid X is pretty much at the top for all that. The only problem is that I prefer smaller phones that are a little more ergonomic than the X. My first choice up until recently has been the Dinc, although I have been looking a LOT at the Fascinate, and it does interest me. My biggest problem is the GPS and bing. My biggest problem with the Dinc is the camera... im so lost...

Don't necessarily wait for a new model phone to come out. Heck, you would be waiting forever.

I took my time rather than wait. I have the HTC Incredible. Why did I get it. It was recommended to me by a friend. But I did not get it without using forums like this to do some research on the various Android phones and also found reviews of the models that Verizon had.

So I think you need to take a couple days at least to do some serious research on the phones you mentioned. Be sure you take into consideration how you will be using your phone. What one guy likes about a particular phone may not be important to you and vice versa.

Use the forums for each of the phones you are looking at and read, read, read, especially the posts that complain about something. Good place to find out what might be wrong with a phone you may like. Since each of the phones you have mentioned have good points as well as weaknesses you will be able to make a choice of the phone that will do the most things for you.

Finally, get a copy of the phone owners or instruction manual. The HTC Incredible phone manual can be downloaded from their sight. There is also an Android 2.2 user manual on this site: Download: Official Android 2.2 User Guide - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog Both of these are in PDF format so you can review them. Don't just review them read them.

Once you have an idea about the phones that you want to look at go to the Verizon store and play with them. I found most Verizon reps have a basic understanding of the phones but no where near what you will find on this site.

Don't be afraid to ask questions of us here on this site. We are here to help you choose a phone and then how to figure it out.

So don't rush out in 5 days to get a new phone, do some thorough research and if you end up going 2 weeks after the upgrade is available so be it. You will get the same deal anyway.

Good luck in your research.

My girlfriend just got the fascinate last night... iv had some time to play with it and I really like it. First off, the size is perfect! I downloaded dolphin hd for her, and it is a very nice browser. This is her first smart phone, and loves it and wont let me switch to launcher pro so I have no idea what effect will have on it... and it will b my first app.

you mention at least 2 coming soon? what phones? and do we know how soon?
