Help Sprint No Help With Samsung Moment!

I have only had my Samsung Moment for about two months and I am very unhappy with it. It constantly loses data connection and I have to reset by taking out the battery and reinserting it almost every time I want to check e-mail. I took the phone to Sprint and they did an "update" but it did NOT help. I wanted to trade the phone for a blackberry but they would not do it or even give some kind of discount on the price to buy one. We have been with Sprint for six years. I would not recommend this phone to anyone. Stay away from it.

This has been a well documented issue with this phone for 10 months. Sprint and samsung officially abandoned it 2 or 3 months ago, apparently because they realized that they cannot fix the problems. I'm sorry but you have bought a known lemon phone, and they have their policies structured to ignore (or at most, pacify) all Moment owner complaints, because an actual remedy would be too costly.

Again, I'm sorry.

If it is any consoloation there is a rumored MR3 to be released by the end of this year to supposedly fix this issue. I am due an upgrade in november so I doubt it will matter for me but maybe later adopters of the phone. Also root with custom ROM's can be your best friend to reduce these issues.
last i heard the MR3 update fixes the airplane mode situation and a few bugs but not the data lock up. BUT they did say that the next update MR4 will address the issue, take it with a grain of salt.

I'm on replacement #4!!! The phone is junk! I'm just waiting for some dough to get the Epic. Hopefully that one is much better.
Issues with my moment:
1st device would go to airplane mode automatically set and if I went to google.com the phone would go to the home page...
2nd and 3rd device both would not retrieve GPS signal long enough to use navigation.
all three would lose data and even regular signal! :mad:

Just got my #4 today. hopefully it lasts a month or two.
Sprint also stated the Advance Task Killer is what may be destroying my phone. I'm gonna try not downloading it for a while to see if that's true.
Any advice? I'm all ears!

I use ATK, I just don't leave it running. After I get done using apps such as Facebook I just run it and kill all apps running that I don't want running including ATK itself.

I am a few pages back now. I am also working on a different theme. I started school so it has taken me longer to complete it but it will be for the moment and the epic.



Back on Topic, lots have had succes with many Radioactive Froyo 1.8.22. I am running that with meat's new kernel and my partial done new theme now. Also Titanium X ROM is gettting good feedback as well as many converting to Little's kernal and the ext2 conversion. There are lots of options and many will say the moment is really one of the easiest phones to root and improve on.

I think Sprint is reaching with that statement. I have used ATK without any problems. It's setup to where once I use it to kill apps it closes. Honestly, I don't think Sprint has a clue and we're just stuck for the moment(pardon the pun) with the Moment.

I feel your pain, as a Sprint employee and a Moment owner myself I too am on my 4th one, one of the common fixes I use alot in the tech department at my store is a hard reset, but make sure you sync your Google contacts so they can be re-downloaded once the hard reset is done. Another option I have found useful is turning off the background data feature when I am not using it, this seems to double battery life, but if anyone has issues and wants to PM me I would be happy to help you out in any way I can, so feel free to drop me a line.

I had problems with the airplane mode, but the latest update fixed those. Unfortunately, it also disabled the screen lock and made it so any button, not just the power button, will turn on the screen. Almost texted someone with nothing but 3 messages of the space bar just from carrying it in my pocket the other day.

Thought I'd also point out, as a show of Sprint's lack of knowledge regarding this phone, they told me 2 days ago that I need to use ATK and leave it on aggressive auto-kill. Tried to say the phone was acting up because it was being slowed down by background apps. They sent me a replacement but still have the same problems. Discovered the forums today and saw it's from the update :p
