Hello all. Just a quick question, and I'm sorry if this is a repost. I am going to root and lag tomorrow. If I do this (since I'm on stock ROM) will I be able to recieve the OTA's? I want to get rid of all the bloat but I still want to recieve the OTA/2.2. Thanks in advance.

To receive the OTA for 2.2 you will need your device's ROM to be factory fresh. By all means you can root and lag-fix tomorrow. Lag fix is easily undone. When you remove the bloat, don't delete it. Save it on your sd card that way you can move it back before your get the OTA; best of both worlds

What is the lag that has a fix for it? I cannot detect any lag on my Fascinate, although I've only had it for less than a week.
In all honesty, I don't know what the lag being fixed was/is. The biggest draw of the lag fix is that is "fixes" something with the I/O parameters that it skyrockets the Quadrant benchmark score. But in terms of real world performance IMO its been minimal to non-existent. I had the SF for a few days before rooting and lag fixing and again Im not sure it sped anything up.
To relate it to the PC world its like a new set of drivers for your gpu which adds 500 points to your 3DMark score but does not give you an increase in real world games

I'll have a look at it; perhaps it causes more efficient use of resources, which can be a sort of "background" improvement, which can be beneficial for a device, especially in the long run.

I'll search around for this fix (I'll cleverly search on "lag fix" :D).

Oh, I see; it's not a flash, it is merely an installable app.

I did it and rebooted.. as I bring up apps, phone and menus I see it now as instant, whereas before it was nearly instant.

Free, too. ;)

Gads I like this phone a lot.

Yup, love it! App management is much easier! Much smoother page to page. I have a question, sorry if I'm an idiot. I'm really tired and must be missing something. I down loaded Titanium back up and wanted the ability to freeze. That is not on the free version, so I "donated" some cash for the full version. I pulled the file from the email after purchase and saved to my lap tops desk top. I extracted all files and plugged in my phone vis usb. I mounted the card but I don't get a prompt to save the file to the phone......what am I missing??? Thanks in advance.

So correct me if I misunderstood what you guys said, but does the OCLF on the Market ROOT the Fascinate?

Brandon
Apparently, yes. I didnt root thru this app but it says so:

It says this will root your device so it must. **The reason it shows unavailable is Im already rooted but if you look down it shows un-root as well. I have yet to try this out yet
