Root Where can I get unrevoked 3 NOT 3.21

Have you rooted yet? And exactly what are your issues, I will try to help

No I haven't rooted yet. Thanks for the offer.

Issues:
- Only have access to a Linux OS (ubuntu 10.04) most of the time
- My device is running 2.1 update 1 and I guess I ignored the ota update for too long because now I can't get it when I try to force my evo to check for it.
- Newb applies to me in almost even tech related situation.
- more tha haven't come to me yet.

I have no experience there, do you ever have access to a windows pc? do you have 2.1 1.34 or 1.47?

Next time you get to a windows pc try : SimpleRoot OTA 1.47.651.1 Edition Now Unlocking Root And NAND On Post-OTA EVO 4G Phones | Android News, Reviews, Applications, Games, Phones, Devices, Tips, Mods, Videos, Podcasts - Android Police

that is how i rooted origionally and it is the best way to root.

Thanks for taking an interest in my problem and trying to help.

Here's what I've figured out. I tried doing Toast's root method for linux and the directions weren't idiot proof because I screwed them up. Anyway my phone does the basics. It allows me to make phone calls, text, and look at the internet on the phone. However I can't use easytether with my phone but with my wife's evo, I've never messed with that one, I have no trouble connecting with easy tether.

I can't update to 2.2, and simple root wasn't so simple, Since I'm fairly certain I know what the problem is I have to get my phone back to normal, and that I don't know how to do.

I appreciate anyones help and if you have any suggestions to help me fix my device I'm starting a new thread here...
