Web browsing sucks on android

I have own an iPhone since it came out, but since Apple's strong grip pissed me off i decided to switch to Verizon & Android. I love it it has all I need but the experience ans the say is lacking. please who can i post to that can help.
First and foremost is the internet browser
1.- the zoom sucks you can zoom with gestures and all but the way it does it sucks. if you pinch slightly it should zoom by a small amount. in other world i can not zoom in to cover what i want to, it zoom either way pass were i want or completely zooms out. of course this i think is just a programming issue of not taking into consideration of how big is the pinch. This is frustrating me so much.

2.- when you zoom the browser relays out the entire page. which is completely wrong it should not happen. when say zooming in on a column of text that you think can be better read by zooming in the browser does a re-layout and now my text is all over the place. the expectation is the you are zooming into a small portion of the webpage not that you are changing the dimensions of the page or object you are zooming in (<DIV>,<p>,<SPAN> or which ever). they should stay still and let me get a bigger view of the window that i'm trying to view.
the fix here would be to zoom in without the weird re-layout

it has sucked so much that what I'm doing is caring my iPhone just to browser the web and my droid for all the rest.

Not to be PC, I like both the iphone and Android. I use Android because of the google turn by turn voice navigation that the iphone simply does not have (please don't mention iphone google maps, that is NOT turn by turn navigation). Each person has an issue, for the OP it's android zoom, for me it is not having to travel with a Garmin and laptop and I have flash so I have a pocket computer that has better navigation than any Garmin or TomTom- Droid wins on that alone. I have stock in Apple and Google so I win with either system purchased.

Wait... so OP doesn't like it that his phone re-fits all the text on the page to make it easier for reading...? You know you can turn that off in the settings if it bothers you that your Android phone does something your iPhone doesn't...

lol....yea thats wild cuz thats one of the biggest complaint when using different browsers, phones...thats one thing many ppl love about the browser on HTC phones...the text re-fitting when pinch zooming..

@the OP not liking it....

The stock browser on the X does what the OP wants, maybe on the Droid 1 and 2 too. For the text to re-fit u have to use the double tap to zoom.

I didn't know people actually complain about word-wrapping. That's what makes browsing - especially forums - so much easier.

^This. When you have a HVGA screen, like my Android, having text wrap at screen width is a really crucial feature. My Nokia had it for Opera Mobile as well. Its sooo nice for smaller mobiles. I never thought anybody would actually dislike it.

LOL this is pretty trollish.

I have an iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android. I can say without a doubt that web browsing most definitely does not suck on Android.

The controls vary depending on the phone and version of Android you have. But I find it just as good if not better than Safari on the iPhone.

I agree. My iPhone 4 isn't as good due to the small 3.5" display. Both my Caltivate & Droid X offer superior browsing experiences.

Web browsing is a user preference. There is no right or wrong method. I personally don't like the word re-wrapping, re-flowing every time I pinch to zoom. I totally hate it so I use Dolphin HD on Android most of the time. I also like the gestures on Dolphin HD. The nice thing about the iPhone is the tactile pressure sensitive pinches. I don't accidently click on a text heavy link (e.g. craigslist.org) with an iPhone. I can easily scroll and zoom-in-and-out much more fluidly. For example, when I see a layout with a photos, the zoom works better for me. On Android, it re-wraps and can take me to a different part of the page layout. Hence, the lack of focus when zooming in on the "stock" Android browser.

Again, the web browsing experience is all user preference. Both platforms have alternate browsers you can download and use.

On dolphin wrapping only happens when I double tap the screen. Pinch zoom leaves the sizing as is without reformatting.

well it here! the droid x is here i love it and i take it back jajja
only the stock browser for HTC incredible sucks lol.

I havent downloaded the dolphin browser but will do, although the stock browser for the Dx
solved most of the ticky tacky stuff that i was use to in the iphone.

I SEE THE LIGHT hahaha

...wow...I didnt think u would get a whole phone just for the browsing experience lol Although the only reason I kept the X was for the better reception than the Droid 1....

I woulda thought getting a browser app for your current phone would been enough. Just remember all these phones have pros n cons. Its the cons u can live with that will determine if u will like the phone or not.

I just remembered this thread. I didnt really understand it at the time. After the X came out and reviewers were comparing the text re-fit vs. other phones it made more sense.
