Where i am told
No I haven't gotten mine yet, but just to help out the Guides and Mods here is a place for us to post when we do get 2.2 and don't have 20+ threads pop up on the same topic.

So when you do get it Post here and let us know if you had to Manually do it or if it was pushed. How long did it take and if you ran into any problems.

I just want to know if having the leak is going to be a problem, I've heard both ways - "it will get rejected and you will not get the real 2.2", OR "the version # will be higher than the leak so it will detect you need an update"

I just want to be prepared so if I have to downgrade, I have all the proper files to do so on 2 PCs including instructions, links to threads ect. but it would be so nice if it just pushed right onto my phone with a text notification just like RIM did with BB 5.x

Verizon has already said if you have the leaked version they have no way of getting you to the OTA 2.2... you have to flash the sbf to get back to 2.1

I already supposedly have "2.3.15" ...but I don't believe that the real OTA could have the battery manager FC's that I get.

Only time will tell if the leaked 2.3.15 and the OTA are the same.

Other than that minor nuance though, the leaked version runs like a dream.

I agree, I really hope the OTA and the 2.3.15 that I'm on aren't the same. Between the Battery FC and SMS out of order I would be greatly disappointed.

I'm not looking forward to all the software that won't work with 2.2. sigh. I know I'll have to reset the whole phone to 2.2 then start all over. I worked so hard to put my X together just so. Maybe I should hire Fabulous. He's just about the most helpful person on this site. Yeah, he'll do it for me! :)

Is that because you're rooted and running the leaked version? It won't affect us mere mortals like that, will it?

Yeah I understand I have to flash it, which will wipe it clean to get back to 2.1 - can anyone else confirm that or is this basically wait and see what happens, when it happens kinda thing. I've heard people go both ways, just like I mentioned above. Unless I missed an informative thread absolutely confirming you need stock to upgrade I'm not sure what is right.

On a second note, if (and when) 2.2 is released OTA and leaked phones won't get the upgrade does anyone see the possibility of manually upgraded the same way some people applied the leak? I would assume there would be a way to dl the new OS and do what you would like to it. - Could be wrong though.

Now I have TWO things to wait for, FROYO, and will Froyo even apply to a leaked phone...

Are you rooted or anything? I've done quite a few 2.1 to 2.2 transitions on the few Android phones that have them and in all cases virtually every app still worked fine with no factory resets needed.

Personally... Im waiting... Ii'm on 2.2 now and I plan on waiting a few days to see what happens before I flash back to get the official. I dont think anything has been confirmed though about loosing root or if those on 2.2 will receive the update or any of that.... I think it's all still up in the air. My theroy.... plan for the worst and hope for the best
