N CEE!
I just got my Droid 1 refurb from Fedex today, and it was awful!
The phone had some kind of dirt all around the screen edges, and
dust and dirt inside the ear piece. I tried to blow it out with some
compressed air, but none of it would come out. This truly looked
like it was not even reconditioned. I told Verizon I would not
accept this phone, so they are sending out yet another
refurb. I really hope this one is in better condition....:(

Disgusting isn't it? They tried to tell me that these phones go through a 100 point inspection before sent out. I find that really hard to believe. The last refurb I got wouldn't even boot up!

I have heard that before also. What I find funny is, the Tech rep
told me they are shipped from Moto back to Vzw, and then thrown in
the Vzw warehouse. She made no mention of a "100 point inspection"
Kind of makes you wonder......

That's nasty! I never really thought about this before but...ewww! I know my phone gets gross looking in the earpiece and I clean it with tape because I can't stand to see it not clean (and trust me, by gross I mean just a little bit of dust). If I got a phone with someone's crap in it I would totally freak out. That's just disgusting!!!!
Good luck with the one coming.

I also received a replacement about 3 weeks ago.It replaced my launch d1.
I have to say my refurbished unit was beautiful it was crisp not one scratch IDK but i was surprised.
I think it is even better than my original. Headphone jack is perfect overclocks like a champ etc..maybe you received my old one lol
anyway good luck

I got my "certified like CRAP replacement" today and it is bent. The keyboard it bent and the space between the screen and keyboard is over 1/8 inch on the lower left of the phone. I called them and they are sending another on Friday.

That sucks man. I hope this one is flawless, if not....I am going to be Pi$$ed...

I have had 2 refurbs now (First droid camera was defective, second the OS/phone stoped doing ALL Data and could only do phone calls and texts) Both were clean and even had all the 'film' protection on them. Sucks you got bad ones, I would go into a local corporate store and take it in with you and bitch up a storm on it, maybe you can get them to replace it with a new Droid 2 in store.

That sucks! Send it back. They will eventually have to give you something good. I would call, ask for a supervisor and tell them you are returning the device. Ask them what it would take to get a new device.

They pretty much said, buy a new one or a CPO unit.

The people in the store here are all rude, including the manager.

I bought my first droid in december 2009, for $330 smackaroos and the next 7 months were a nightmare...about 4-10 dropped calls a day (i live in nj, by the shore...and all previous phones--samsung, nokia, lg--never had an issue) ...frozen screens, camera malfunctions, eaten text msgs....oi! I could go on and on, but I digress...After 8 visits to 3 different locations and hours of wasted time speaking to vz representatives on the phone and threatening to cancel my 5 line plan...AND after 7 replacements (3 were refurbished and terrible) I finally pleaded with the manager at a local store. For the love of god...just give me a new phone comparable to the droid. I cannot endure the trial and error anymore of a device--your TOP OF THE LINE DEVICE--that has so many kinks and glitches that it actually impedes my daily flow...final clenched through the teeth answer--"We can give you another phone, but you have to pay $70 for the battery"!!!! Say What?!! Thank god my droid shattered a couple of months ago..and for the mean time, I have been using a blackberry curve...which kinda sucks...but hallelujah! It works...no dropped calls...it functions as a phone, which in m opinion is the most important facet of owning/operating a cell phone...but sad to say, the phone was on loan from a friend and now needs it back. Do I pay $90 to my assurion insurance and get another crap, refurbished droid or do I just bite the bullet and re-sign my verizon contract and buy something newer and better or enroll in a smoke signal class? Any feedback is welcomed :)

I think I responded on another thread, so excuse me if this is a repeat :) I would say, renew at your one year mark. Pick out a phone that you think would work for you. Use it for the 30 day grace period and see how it does. Worse case scenario, you return it and get a BB Curve, Bold or Storm 2. At least you will have a phone that works for you.

I have never had an issue with my Droid, but before this phone I had an HTC Touch Pro that I had to have replaced three times. Not all under the same claim, but for different reasons. But none of the phones I received looked bad at all. With the exception of one they all just had minor scratches, but I was fine with that. The last one I got had all the plastic wrap on it saying it was a refurb, but it looked brand spanking new. My wife also had her droid replaced once (don't remember what the issue was), and her's was in really good shape.

I'm tired too of listening of why they can't replace my Droid1 with a new Droid1 or another one like the X or Inc. I've tried to get a different replacement after my Droid1 refurb came and turned out to have multiple faults. They said the replacement with a different phone program ended April last year which of course is a lie. I pointed out that I was a ten year + Verizon customer, they said thanks but so what? Our system is the best so you should be happy. I said why not let me just end my contract after 1 1/2 years and send the phone back to you since any money Verizon spend subsidizing the phone has long been paid back. NO, they say, you have to pay a full penalty if you leave early. I say suppose I start a blog and contact all your customers in forums and let them know the facts about how much they pay versus the service they get? Suppose I tell them that the 3G service you advertised these last few years is only 2G? They said 'Go ahead, no one will care' . Well, maybe. Maybe not. What do you say? Can we get them to wake up and smell the coffee? Can we get them to offer equal service for the fees we cough up in a contract for service and data? Thanks for reading my comments (rant). I'm serious if any of you think now's the time to start some action to get some action.
