Help Droid X antenna location?

Read most phones are in the bottom (iPhone or not). Is the X antenna in the hump at the top?

there was some ad verizon put out that said there was a dual antenna system. bottom line: your not going to have any issues with where you put your hand on the phone, the iphone was just a major f*ck up.

Edit: rootederis has a point. there is going to be a small drop if you hold your hand right over the antenna but it wont be anything near as bad as the iphone

For that to happen with my Droid, I have to cup my hand over the bottom of the phone and squeeze it like I'm trying to crack a walnut. Even then it doesnt lose service. The decibles drop tho after my hand turns red.....

...And ppl complained about the Droid build quality......

The X should be no different. Thats probably why the X is longer, to accommodate the antennas.

According to PhoneScoop, the Droid X FCC ID is IHDT56LB1
And according to the SAR report on the FCC database it is on the bottom.

Length 51.6 cm (20.3") must be the uncoiled length
Width 6.2 cm (2.4") must be the width of the coil

The X has 3 antennas. I'm not sure of where their locations are though.

And it probably does have 3 antennas: CDMA, WiFi, and Bluetooth

Not necessarily. I'm no expert in this realm, but I found this info:

SAR's - taken from PhoneArena.com
Moto X = Head - .76, Body - 1.38
Iphone = Head 1.17, Body - .43
DINC = Head 1.4, Body - .70

Since Head is were the phone is mostly located in use, a lower Head is better.

Interesting that the old Droid was SAR: Head: 1.49 W/kg; Body: 1.50 W/Kg The Devour is .45

Most people ignore such things but I believe there is something to it. Two long time heavy phone users in our office had some interesting illnesses. One glaucoma and the other a brain tumor behind the eye. I don't think today's cell phones have the effect that the old Moto Bricks did but they regularly had 2000-4000 minutes per month on these. Simply too much microwave radiation IMO.

Hard to say with so much conflicting data out there. I guess it never hurts to err on the side of caution. The X supports dial over bluetooth which the DINC does not. I guess I'll look like a dork with one of those ear pieces, but it would be good to use one. I have avoided using one up to this point. It paired for one reviewer seamlessly.

Exactly! If it was cut and dry it'd be nothing to think about. It's the old believing in god question and going to heaven. Either there is heaven or there isn't. If you choose to believe in god at least you have a 50/50 chance of going to heaven. If you don't you have zero chance. :D
The guy who got the glaucoma had to stop using his Dynatec because his ear would hurt from the pain too. I don't know if it was heat or radiation though. LOL

Anyway, the point is the better the signal, the less power the phone needs to put out to reach the tower. That's good for battery life and maybe good for our heads. It always creeps me out a bit when you set a GSM phone next to a radio and it causes it to crackle horribly when the phone rings.

I have the Droid X and I cannot make the signal drop by holding it in any way that I have tried, at least not 'reliably' or significantly. I have tried holding it in both hands one on top and one on bottom with as much surface area covered as possible. I have tried covering both sides, the back, the top, the bottom. The best result is covering the top of the phone with my hand and I can get the signal bars to fluctuate, but I don't get a nose-dive kind of drop. Wherever the two antennas are, they are in positions that when one antenna gets signal loss, the other can pick up the slack.

The only reception difference that I have found is in the wifi... I was sitting right next to my Airport Exteme surfing with full bars when I noticed that if I put my finger on the top right hand corner of the phone, my wifi reception would drop two or three bars. I repeated this about a half a dozen times with the same results each time. So to answer the OP's question, I'm pretty sure that the wifi antenna is there along the right top.

May I ask a question about this?

Isn't it still bad to have the higher levels in the body...couldn't it still do damage(possible brain tumors etc) if you surf the web can the radiation cause issues away from your body...hypothetically?

Back on topic..I checked the db's and I can make it drop a little maybe 5 points while holding versus laying on a table...but it doesn't effect call quality and that's all I care about:)

I too would love to know the exact placement of the antennas. On my old droid I knew exactly where it was, so if I was trying to get a signal in a bad signal area I knew where not to place my hand.

Wanted to comment on the bluetooth earpiece issue.

I bought a jawbone icon and out is amazing. Fits in your ear without a hook. It uses a noise cancellation feature that works awesome! Sound quality is amazing on both ends; I've been told I sound better on the bluetooth than on the regular phone.

Be prepared to pay about 75 bucks, but it is worth that and more.

Any verizon store should have them. Jawbone Icon. Accept nothing less!

i know this is an old post but i been searching google and it keeps popping this one up.

can someone for the love of god please point out the antennas?
cellphone radio antenna
wifi radio antenna
Bluetooth radio antenna

the reason i am asking is because i have two droid-x with CM7 flashed and both phones are setup exactly the same for these tests

on one of the droid-x`s it repeatably shows way less then my other droid-x with both the wifi and cellphone radio`s
i have not checked BT signal strength

i use wififofum and put it in DB mode so it gives me exact numbers for wifi anyway
the droid-x that is not performing as well is really HORRIBLE with the signal strength

it goes the same for the cellphone radio

with wifi i have linksys router with dd-wrt and i can look at the signal to noise ratio on both my droid-x while connected at the same time

this is constant for both phones with wifi (and on different wifi channels to)
the cellphone radio is just as bad.
the good phone i get 4 bars...the bad phone i get 1 bar

so i think i have a bad antenna connection so i really need to know where it is if someone can help.

one more note:
when the bad phone first connects to the router i can see it connect at the correct or similar values as the good phone but then soon after it drops down so it might not be the antenna

if anyone can help it would be great
