Something I don't understand about Samsung.

Seems like the entire world is going gaga over Samsung. I read everywhere that they are taking the world by storm with their TV's, cell phones and soon with their Android pads.

The debacle of the Galaxy phones must be a fluke otherwise you'd be seeing them lambasted in the press.

Even boards that track stocks are all enamored with the company. One would think that people trading their stock would be smart enough to have picked up on the fact the company does a crappy job. The fact it is not reflected must mean the Galaxy is a fluke.

Investors care about the money they make. Samsung hypes these fancy new gadgets and gizmos, people get suckered into buying them, myself included, they take their money and move on to the next gadget.and leave their botched models in the dust. If you make 100 new.gizmos a year and 10 end up being a fail, who cares.as long as they have 90 that worked...right? And next year there will be 90 more... Samsung makes sooo many things that they can't.focus on one in particular. If one sucks, the don't care.

I bet a lot of people are like me. They buy a Samsung product, are unhappy with it, and say they'll never buy another one, only for Samsung to release a new product that gets rave reviews so they decide to give them another chance. I have a 52" Samsung LCD TV, a Samsung netbook, a replacement Samsung hard drive for a Dell laptop and 3 Samsung phones. The only one that hasn't given me any problems is the TV. My netbook has been sent in for repairs twice within 6 months. The Samsung replacement hard drive I bought for my Dell has failed on me twice. I still plan on smashing my Epix to pieces but unfortunately I need it as a backup to my Captivate for the time being.

I have several Samsung products, including a 32" LCD HDTV and never had a problem with any of them. I'm sure there are some bad apples out there, but I think as a whole Samsung builds pretty good stuff.

Samsung makes pretty solid products..

As far as hard drives go.. I have seen a particular samsung hard drive recommended over and over by the enthusiast level comp building crowd.. despite it being smaller than other comparable hard drives at about the same cost.. Why? well.. they are enthusiast.. they know what they are talking about.

I do admit.. I would be buying a captivate right now.. with parental permission. (they pay the bill.. so it doesn't matter how old I am or how much I pay for the phone... they get the final say for whats on their plan). Why?

Well yeah I am scared that it will never see 2.2.. or 2.3 or anyting after what it h as..

However, there are ways to fix pretty much any problem on the phone.

My samsung 1080p monitor is a bit dissappointing in terms of "calibration" when I try to get it set up "perfectly" I find the websites I go to say its a very poor monitor..

However, I'm also colorblind.. so I can't properly calibrate it the same way someone with good vision can.

What I can tell you about this monitor is it looks gorgeous. When I went to best buy.. it stood out from all the other monitors there. they had a lot.. but, it was the only one that really said 'BUY ME!' it was just the right size 23" at 1080p with every possible connection i could need. Component, hdmi, vga, dvi at 250$.. I could have gotten cheaper.. but, if I had to buy one connector for 30$ in town or 15$ online and a 3 day wait any other the other monitors would have been in the same price.

However, what I can say on this whole topic.. is that I think you have to walk in to any product with realistic expectations. Someone who is not expecting to be completely wowed is going to have a different opinion than someone who is expecting more...

FWIW I played with a fascinate tonight.. and I liked it.. it seemed to have more options than the iPhone with the same level of ease of use..and that swype keyboard is freaken amazing..

I am weary of samsung as a brand.. however, I do think they deserve their credit :/

I must admit.. when I saw my monitor was a samsung.. one of my first thoughts was.. "well... samsung isn't a bad brand.. but, is there more merit to it than just being a samsung monitor?" and well.. I will admit I'm impressed.

Aside from the having to restart the impression.. Me and my brother both loved ours while we had them..

Samsung can be very over hyped.. but, they do make very solid products..

They just make a solid product and move on...

if samsung keeps up with the galaxy s line.. I would say they deserve every bit of hype they have gotten :/.. if they don't.. well.. they are stupid and I won't feel bad when they inevitably loose stock.

FWIW phones are two year contracts... so.. I would like it if all phone manufacturers would keep support up for smart phones for at least 2 years.. that would be really nice..

I have 3 Samsung TVs - a 50" plama, a 52" LCD and a 61" DLP. My daughter has one of their semi-smart phones - mostly a texting and picture taking phone.

I was expecting at least that level of product with the Captivate - I was SHOCKED at how poor the phone was and how many issue I had, I took it back for a replacement and essentially the ATT guy suggested the iphone as a replacement - I accepted. I have not had any of the issues that were evident upon release, I have gotten both updates and my free case. I happen to like itunes, but that is related strictly to ease of use - bottom line, it does what it says it does, and it does it well. If I still my Captivate and was locked in for however many months and it still had all the issues that I experienced I think I would have gone postal.

I am truly amazed at how many blast Apple and let all these issues continue. It is exactly what ATT and Samsung want you to do.

We have a 46" LCD, blu-ray, netbook, and 2 Captivates from Samsung. TV is great! Best out of all the Samsungs we have. Captivates are next; they are great (knock on wood), minus the GPS. Blu-ray is pretty good; internet on it didn't work for some time until they FINALLY released an......update. And I hate the netbook, mainly for the crappy keyboard which is cheap and laggy. Funny thing is is that I read a review where someone was talking about how much they loved the keyboard, ha! Oh well, live and learn....or not as so many have said.

Seriously people...

I am not sure what is worse. Everyone arguing about Samsung's good or bad service, quality etc, or the the fact that nobody is that much better at those things that you are whining about. As a matter of fact, for those reasons you stated above(sales, stock, media), they are obviously doing a better job in areas than most if not all of their competitors.

Don't get me wrong, I am sure there are problems that you have every right to be upset about after spending loads of cash. I have them too. But, if you honestly think the rest of the world works any different or that those issues lie with Samsung only, you are crazy.

If you buy a product and have a problem with it, return it or sell it. Feel free to go so far as emailing the company to tell them what you think of the product or service. Otherwise, deal with it. Does nobody any good to sit and whine about it. Be much better off focusing your energy on the positives of the piece of technology you purchased or on how to properly get rid of or exchange it if it doesn't suit your needs.

My refrigerator & digital camera are also made by samsung. Camera flash doesn't work & my refrigerator has had problems since day one. My Captivate has been flawless (besides gps).
I've had good luck with my Samsung products. Besides my Captivate, I've got two widescreens, and a refrigerator.

About the only issue is, for some reason my refrigerator doesn't take very good pictures ... :)
