so, dont do the update, even manually?
There are a few on here that have manually downloaded the update and rerooted and it worked ok...

Yes but they can not turn s-off

HTC and sprint have the availability to see everything we do, and unrevoked turns s-on, and they know that so why not do something in the update to mess with what we do? Thats there job. Oh well, devs will work on things and fix it again, it is a cat and mouse game

I really don't understand the point of accepting the OTA if you are already rooted. Just be patient and wait a few hours for the stock rooted ROM to come out.

I agree, but some people who root just for wireless tethering are not concerned with ever flashing a rom or kernel and want all the new stuff sprint sends out and can not wait and lose root. It happened to a countless number of people with 2.2

Right, but now they won't be able to unroot until they release a fix.

Dammit!!!
Look here i just tried the manual and it didnt work for me....
I guess i was lucky there lol.

Well thanks for the heads up. I was only going to flash the update since i have the day off and it looked safe. Ill wait for the safe version. :)

You did get lucky but in the future it is more worth it to be patient and go with what is confirmed to work.

Here is the rooted stock ROM based on the OTA: [ROM] OTA_Supersonic_3.29.651.5 [ROOTED] [DEODEXED] [SIGNED] - xda-developers

Ok, so if I only root for wireless tether, don't want to install a ROM, should I just wait to accept the OTA? Will there be a fix for unrevoked at some point so that I can accept the OTA and then re-root?

I read some guys downloaded the OTA file from @unrevoked and loaded it on manually then re-rooted. I worry about doing that if I ever have problems with my Evo in the future. Will I be able to return my device to stock if I haven't loaded the official OTA. I'm not in any hurry to accept the OTA since I'm not having any problems with my device, so am looking for guidance from the experts. Thanks!

You can accept the OTA now and reroot but you won't be able to fully unroot until unrevoked comes up with a fix for the Hboot issue. If you take any version of the OTA whether it be from Sprint or unrevoked, you will not be able to unroot once you run 3.21. Just flash the stock rooted rom that I posted earlier along with the radios and you will have a rooted OTA.

There will probably be a fix for this in the future but who knows...

I was on the HTC Eris when people took the manual 2.1 update and then were SOL when the original came out. They were never able to get rid of root, never able to downgrade back to 1.6, and since the phones had software issues that made them unusable, ended up with $100 bricks. Not a fan of HTC after that debacle, thanks for the advice, but I'll wait until the fix is discovered before I take the OTA. Thanks for the quick response!
