Should I pay full price for a Droid X?

Ok, here's my story.
I currently have a HTC Droid Eris and I am in the need of a new phone. Other people with other Verizon phones get better service up here than I do, the GPS doesn't work, and my phone has broken 5 times with me getting the same replacement phone each time.

I've been researching the Droid X and I've really liked how responsive it was and how it didn't freeze up when switching screens and such. I know that the Droid (the first one) has a good signal up here because my parents had full bars when they came to visit me.

Ideas?

EDIT: I don't want to buy a Droid 1 because Verizon said that they don't sell them anymore and I don't want a used one.

u have held out this long so i would wait till xmas. by then they should have a couple new androids out by then. i had the eris, incredible, and now the dx. loved the dinc but decided to try out the dx before my 30 days was up and havent looked bak. im a minimalist so the size kinda bothered me at first but now i couldnt imagine not having a screen this size! i love it. i really liked the compact qwerty of the htc but there is an app (ultra keyboard) that has a good version of it. but if you can get used to swype i hear its pretty nice. the memory allows you to put more apps on it than the dinc without slowing it down. they will always come out with a newer and better version of whats out now so if you wait for the newest and best thing you will never get anything. if you just cant wait yeah i would definitly get the dx but if you can then wait and see what kind of deals they have for xmas. who knows if you wait long enough they mite even have the infamous verizon iphone!

The Verizon iPhone isn't "supposed" to come out until January, though that doesn't make sense. Either way, I never want an iPhone. They're to locked down.

Motorolla is supposed to come out with a phone with a 2GHz processor sometime this year, though would that even be beneficial? I mean, isn't 1GHz enough?

Not when Gingerbread requires a minimum of 1ghz.
