Help Navigation crashes phone

First it was every now and then, now it's every time I fire up the GPS and go into Maps or Navigate. Phone crashes -- screen goes black, it reboots itself.

Has anyone else seen this?

exactly what the person above me said, the GPS is causing lots of issues, including the phone to crash when running Google maps or google navigation or google places. Also makes the web browser crash when visiting sites that want your location, such as google mobile.

I don't think it's the GPS causing Google Maps/Nav to crash, but maybe Google Maps/Nav itself. I activated the trial of TeleNav tonight to try a different program and, by God, the damn thing worked flawlessly. My location was spot on sitting inside a restaurant well away from any windows. Programmed it to get home while inside, walked outside and it locked on, drew the route and got me home -- even to include taking me around the block so I could park in front of my place on the correct side of the street (the way I always go!).

Big difference from last week in Seattle, where I'd never driven before, and it crashed repeatedly with Google Maps/Nav; and when it did work, it had me a block away from my actual location. Lots of fun in a strange city, at night, in the rain.

I dont think its Google Maps/Nav locking up the phone. When I activate the GPS and try to use GPS status or GPS test the screen goes blank and I have to pull the battery out to restart it.

That's a different behavior than mine. Mine went black and rebooted only when GPS was active and I opened Maps or Nav. I never had a problem getting into GPS test.

This is really screwy!
Well, I uninstalled the Maps update, just to see if it would solve the crashing. It seemed to, but I could no longer open Places and Navigate directly. I could get a destination from Maps, and tell it to navigate, and Navigate would open -- and it didn't crash in the few minutes I left it open.
Then I reinstalled the Maps update. Good news: I could open Places and Navigate. Bad news: As soon as I input a location and told it to navigate, it crashed.

And to repeat from my post above: TeleNav has my location dead on and does not crash.

So... something rotten in the Maps/Places/Navigate/GPS structure??

I just don't mess with the gps (aka freeze :)) button and all is fine. Just waiting like everyone else for this mystical "Fix".

Called tech support, they said to do what I knew I'd have to do: reset the phone. Frak.

Solved the crashing/rebooting problem. Used Google Maps/Nav for a half-hour drive today, and it lost GPS signal half way there. Had to back out all the way and input destination again to get it going.

On the way back I used TeleNav; no problem, except that after 30 days it'll be $9.99/month. Hope for a fix before then.

And tech support had no idea when or if a fix would be released.
