What good is the front camera now?

I got the EVO the day it came out as did others, I also used Fring for the front camera, till they closed that deal with skype, so, what is the front camera for now?

The same thing any camera is good for...taking pictures and shooting video. I would hope you don't think it's limited because of Skype not working on Fring anymore. It comes in very handy for self portraits and videos.

I use it for qik mostly my brother got the Samsung epic 4g and is pretty neat

I still don't really get qik . I see where everyone has been posting their user names so I finally.decided to create my account...ojiozzio. I get into the app and dont see anyplace to enter user names...clicking on video chat just brings up my contacts. I also did a test of the video streaming to their web site and that was pretty awful, even over my wifi. I got much better results with ustream.

What am I missing? Help a qik/vid chat newb

I agree. Fring with Skype was awesome, but I don't think I've used my front camera since then. I'm not a 12 year old girl on MySpace, so I don't take many self portraits.

agreed with that last statement. Plus why use the front camera for videos or pics when you have such a great rear camera.

Good for stills under the right circumstances. Awful for video...awful, awful, awful.

You can Fring to other Evo, Epic, iPhone 4, and now iPod Touch 4 owners. So it's not completely useless. In fact, the deciding factor on getting my wife the iPod Touch 4 for her birthday is so that we can use Fring.

Sure, why not? Remember, it's a cell phone, not a dSLR replacement. I'd say I have taken some quite good pictures with my Evo, better than any other cell phone camera I've owned.

Fring still works, but only mobile mobile. You just can't do mobile to desktop like before when Fring hooked up with Skype on the desktop.

I haven't used the front cam since Fring disabled Skype. And I don't know anyone with an evo, iPhone4, etc.

i've used fring with other evo's and an iphone4. works 10X better than Qik for video quality.

Qik is barely useable. Those Evo commercials when the guy is video chatting with his wife over Qik should really have "Images simulated" superimposed in very large letters.

Fring video quality isn't that bad, but the audio coming out of the speakers is pretty dire. Headphones are almost a must.

i tried and it doesnt even work. Tried like 10 times and like 3 accounts. no luck even signing in and tons of bad reviews : (

yea thats the one i tried. and check the reviews
