Help So I am thinking about switching to LauncherPro

Not really sure you need to delete anything. Couple tips b/c it can be confusing at first since it's a little different interface than Sense.

Once downloaded, to get it running, press the "home" key and the select LP (along with the remember setting checkbox) as the default instead of Sense, this confuses newbs. You may need to go through this same thing each time you get a market update for LP also. It's weird b/c you keep trying to back out of the market and it won't let you b/c it doesn't know which launcher it's supposed to use without you telling it again by going through the "press home key and reselect LP" thing.

Also, with Sense you drag stuff off the bottom of the screen to get it off the homescreen whereas with LP, you drag them to a trash can in the bottom/center of the screen. The can shows up once you long press and start dragging an icon/widget. Same principle though.

Just a couple thoughts to get you started, maybe you already knew that stuff idk. Anyway, I'll never go back to Sense after using LP. Far superior IMO.

do NOT set columns to "1"

i dont know if it will repeat itself, but after i did that if fc'd.
luckily i didnt trust it all the way to make it my default homescreen or else i would have been fcd. heh.

anyway, i went back to sense and had to uninstall and reinstall because launcher wouldnt even load.

Thanks for the tips!!
Only thing holding me back is no longer having friendstream or the news widget.
Are there things similar that I can download for LP?

Thanks

Get the free Version and mess around with it for a couple of days. If you decide you like it, pay $2 for the Plus version. It has LP Versions of almost all the Sense widgets... not the news one though. But there are plently of app's on the market with news widgets.

Actually, you will want to eventually remove your stuff from the Sense screens, at least remove the widgets. LP runs on top of Sense, it doesn't actually replace it. And you don't want widgets you are not using running in the background taking up CPU and battery life.

Leave them be until you decide, that way if you want to go back to Sense everything is there but if you stick with LP remove them.

To go along with this, download an app called Home Switcher from the Market. It will allow you to easily switch between the launchers when/if you need to.

Again... just want to add onto this. LP has a built in uninstall feature which is quite handy, IF you realize it's there. When you drag things to the trash can there are two possibilities. If you drag and drop it quickly it will just remove that icon from your home screen. If you drag something to the trash can and hover over it for 2-3 seconds, it will ask if you want to uninstall. Just wanted to mention this so you don't accidentally start uninstalling your apps. It DOES give a confirmation window though before uninstalling.

Nice tip! I've used LP since the first week the DI launched and never realized this.

this thing is super customizable. another thing you'll want to look for (only in lp PLUS version) is "icon resizing."

now keep an eye around the clock:
resizea.jpg

again, this is only available in pro plus, but its SUPER handy.
you achieve this by dragging half of the large widget off of the screen on any side (watch out for bottom because it'll delete the widget) then just resize to your liking.

if you dont use this and you set your columns and rows to too high of a number, it will automatically resize the widgets and cut them off.

Or you can just long press on the widget until the phone vibrates (take 1-2 seconds) and let go. You'll then see the tab at the bottom of the widget to adjust the size.
