Help Dial pad during call

I never did find a setting for this but I was actually looking for it to turn it off since for some reason it was popping up every so often. My guess is I was hitting it by accident once in awhile.

It is rare that I needed it active and it was easy enough to open it. But like the OP says, it is not intuitive for someone not familiar with the phone.

I thought there was a setting in the menu that allowed you to do this for the stock app.

If not, I know for a fact that there's a setting in the Dialer One app for this. I know because I turned it off. I hate having that thing there when I don't need it.

I've never found a setting for the stock app. In Dialer One, if you have the setting enabled to show the keybaord, does it still use the prox sensor to shut the screen down while it's up to your ear? Then if you pull the phone away instead of showing the call details it'll bring up the dial pad?

Edit: Nvm, I thought it was a paid app for some reason. Just loaded it to test.

Re-edit: Tried it. Still couldn't get the dial pad to show up when I moved the phone away from my ear. What setting are you using to make that happen?

If the dialer is open it will stay open until you close it again. Even if the screen goes off and you turn it back on again.

At lesat, that's how mine works. And I assume it defaults to that, since I didn't change any settings that have those sorts of options. The only thing I did was change the color of the pad and keys and then turn off the "load dialer on launch" (or something like that).

I guess I can't be much help with keeping it on since I personally keep it turned off. But I do know that if I pull it up, it is still there until I close it or close out of the app.
