content filter apps?

Anyone know of any apps that will allow a parent to set a content filter on the Eris so a kid can't access adult themed websites (porn etc)? The subject came up at work and it sounded like something worth looking in to, but the best I could find was a content filter service from Verizon (for free) but it seems that it also prevents Google Navigator, Facebook and YouTube from working properly (they all load just fine, but crazy error codes come up which prevent you from getting any further). Also of note: this only works when using the 3G service, as WiFi has no problems accessing Nav, FB and YT.

Ideas? Concerned parents want to know! :)

There is a program in the app market called x3watch that monitors everything on the phone and then sends out a monthly report to an email you choose. the bad part is that it doesn't block anything, it only works with the stock browser, and it can be turned on or off at will.

There is another program out called Covenent Eyes that is a content filter, but is still developing their android app. It will filter websites like you are looking for, but it is also a subscription based service.

Those are the only two I know of...

if I was a parent, I'd be seriously worried if my child was resorting to watching porn on his freaking phone, instead of using a proxy like he should be anyway. especially on an eris. can you imagine? pinch to zoom barely works as-is.

just saying.

pretty interesting question though. what, exactly, could stop him from rooting, wiping, or tethering past anything you did manage to set up?

How do you mean? The touch screen is the best for this sort of thing. Especially pinch to zoom.

I mean in physics simulation programs of course.
