Just keep telling yourself - it's just a phone, just a phone, just a phone...

Oh god I thought when I opened the thread and saw the length and the word rant. But you make fair comments and I couldn't agree more with the sentiment. Love my phone, works perfectly and isn't letting me down anywhere that I can think of.

And whilst you drink your cider I will tuck into my 2nd double V&T... it is Friday evening afterall - cheers!

I bought this phone on the information posted by SE that it was going to get a 2.1 update in Q3 and a 2.2 in Q4. This was posted a long time ago by SE and now it's well behind and 2.2 is now (we'll see and maybe).

It's a good phone for sure, but that doesn't mean people can't be upset that things they expected are being delayed again and again while some of the others phones people considered are already doing everything we wanted.

Actually, even getting the update in Oct is still inline with their original time frame back in May. They only moved it up to Q3 recently (I believe end of July or August).

I agree with the OP that my phone works great and I am 99% happy with it. That is far more than I can say about most of the other devices I have had (3 iPhones included).

I

I'm quite certain initial releases were late Q3 even when I bought the phone back in May. I honestly would have skipped it if it was going to be October (or likely even later for most).

I understand what you are saying, but that does NOT give SE the right to do what they did and are currently doing. I like the hardware on the phone, that was the main selling point, the OS was secondary. The camera (Hardware) was a big part of my reason to purchase; However, when I bought it, I wasn't aware that it was a flashlight. Will Vignettee get the flashlight working as the LED Flash that it was suppose to be? Sure, But SE should be paying for purchases of this program, since SE obviously failed at it. I also was banking on the camera working in 720HD video, Big selling point, which was suppose to come to the phone with 2.1, which as it stands, we will be lucky to see it. IMO it's the Deceit and continued Deceit being perpetrated against us the customers that gets me ticked off! Regarding you ALL on the other side of the big pond, I can feel your frustration, heck you have had the phone a lot longer than us in the USA. Granted you will get the release before us and who knows how long AT&T will take before it rolls it out to us, but you all on the other side of the big pond must be twisting in your knickers (Is that the correct phrase, LOL??)!!!

So the phone will stay with me, like I said, I like the hardware and there are things to like (a little) in the 1.6. It has never dropped a call, it has never shut off on its own, the battery life gets me a day in a half, lightening fast GPS, the screen is great, everything is "Working" as it should and I just love the hardware design, so yeah I willl be keeping it for the forseeable future, after all that was the main reason of why I got it. So I find myself in a camped divided; Happy Camper who has the hardware that gets bragged upon, and than there is the unhappy Camper, who just doesn't like getting lied to (The big world problem is that SE is NOT the only ones, heck it is so bad, it's almost a common way to do business and that is nothing but BAD), but the campers have formed a union and they will stick with what works and find ways to work around those things that don't work. They will accomplish this by coming to these forums and working side by side with others who share the love and dislike the lies. The forum is as Rosered has said, one of the BEST here and that is why I have stayed here and I thank you all for that. For those who don't understand what I am saying, just peruse the whole Android Forum and check out some other phones, it won't take you long to see what I am saying, that there is really a great bunch of people, "here in the X10 forum" and I Thank You ALL for allowing me the honor to be part of this family (And yeah the kids do rant from time to time, but always just shy of the "Get your butt in the corner" line), LOL!!!!

OK, stepping off soap box now..............
