Updating to Fresh 2.4 has been the WORST experience yet.

up until today i was still using Fresh 1.1 on Android 1.5 because I didn't want to deal with the hassle of reflashing.

well i fell for it and flashed up to Fresh 2.4 today and have had nothing but issues.

1.) the phone is slower than it has EVER been. lags and hangs up on everything (dialer, text, wake up).

2.) the market will NOT work. says "download unsuccessful" everytime. then i tried some of the fixes i found via google search (battery pull, reboot, turn off mobile network then turn it back on) and NOTHING worked. the only difference is now it stops saying "download unsuccesful" and instead it just hangs up on the "starting download" screen without actually ever downloading anything.

3.) Gmail no longer pushes to my phone. I googled this and saw no answer for this at all. Is there an update for Fresh? Does push work in earlier versions?

I am considering two things. Reverting back to Fresh 1.1 (if thats even possible). Or, just putting the stock Sprint version on my phone with the bloatware and calling it a day.

I tried to make sense of the CM6 thread but all the overclocking talk has me very confused so I don't know if it's worth the headache again to try and flash something else on my phone.

maybe rooting isnt for me but i also think people over explain things on here and it over complicates what should be a basic diagnosis.

Did you make a nandroid before you flashed over to 2.4.0? If so, nandroid back to 1.1

Look here for CM6 http://androidforums.com/sprint-hero-all-things-root/184286-setting-up-cm6.html

does CM6 support Gmail push?

i guess I'm kinda hesitant against that CM6 because I read it doesn't support HTC apps like the clock, weather, etc.

Thanks for helping me out. you've been dropping info all day helping me and i really appreciate it. just very frustrated.

i've gone thru over 100+ pages between here and XDA trying to figure out my options and it's all so overwhelming.

edit: i didn't do a nandroid backup because again it's something i googled and couldnt find anyone explaining exactly what it was or how to do it.

Well the great thing about being rooted is you can always try something else;) What I would do is make a nandroid now, since you have fresh running! Then try something else, sounds like you want sense, so look at the zen rom [ROM] Zen-ROM Updated 08-30-2010. - xda-developers or look at nfinite's new sense rom [ROM] NFX Sprint 2.31.651.7 STOCK Deoxed/Odex 9/23/2010 - xda-developers

You don't like something, nandroid back to fresh and try to figure out the problems with fresh.

BTW, you have plenty of options. Pretty much all the sense roms over at xda are stable, CM6 is stable also. Not sure of something? Ask, I'm sure somebody has tried it
