Ripped from linked page:

New Stuff

Again, most of the effort went into Tools. The highlights:

1. STILL no compcache. I understand a few of you are interested in it - but my opinion is that it is overhyped. Seems the only potential benefit is for redraws, which should be much better now, esp. with ADW. It is taking too much of my time for the perceived benefit, and right now I'm at a brick wall.

2. NEW kernels. No changes that I have made; but just a new pull from AOSP with my normal OC changes. I do not have a comprehensive list to publish of what has changed. I'm just trying to keep up-to-date

3. Bluetooth controls all should work now - let me know if you find otherwise! On vacation I ran 4.8 and my Moto ROKR's worked perfectly. Also you now have the ability to also hide the bluetooth icon, even if active. Find this in statusbar options.

4. You can now toggle the extended media controls on/off with the screen off. Do this by longpressing the camera button for at least half a second (same action as opening camera app when phone is not locked).

5. You can now choose pretty much ANY custom color now, rather than be limited to only what I provide in the menu. In addition, you even have access to an ADVANCED color picker (code credited to Keith Wiley).

6. I am not sure this will help with the Wifi dropping issues; but there is a new option in my Tools you might want to check out

7. The delete scripts have been upgraded; not only are new apps there (ie. Gmail), but they do a complete cleanup now. So when the next Goggles update comes, and you get the dreaded 'failed to update' - go into Tools, Scripts, delete Goggles. Reboot. The market install should now work.

8. Camera issues, as well as Exchange email issues, should be resolved. Let me know if you find otherwise!

9. All system apps (ie Google) should be up-to-date from the market.

10. Screen lag on any of the launchers should be improved! That being said - I really do recommend another launcher. I'm partial to ADW - ADW.Launcher v1.1.5 standalone Application for Android | Productivity, VERY small memory footprint. It is also now an option in RM, which also installs an 'mvadw' script. If you DO use another launcher, use my tools to DELETE the stock Launcher2 (it will back up to SD). Otherwise, it will still take resources even though you don't run it.

11. You can now control your tunes (Media Player, Pandora tested) while the screen is off! Longpress volume up/down to skip tracks. Camera shutter (hardpress) to pause/play. Camera shutter (longpress) to toggle the extended media controls on/off.

12. Google fix for Pandora (all streaming AAC) included - this is NOT the hack that disabled stagefright; this has FIXED stagefright

13. Ability to change the carrier text to whatever you want! Should not affect any other apps.

14. Now when you 'delete' system apps, they are backed up to SD. So just in case you want it back .. you can get it back

Oddly enough, when this script finishes it attempts to make the system partition readonly again. For some of you this causes a hang, and in the UI it ends up with an FC. I do not yet understand why only a few have this issue ... all necessary actions SHOULD have taken place however.

15. rstapps has had a few fixes - you should see no FC's while restoring, or much less than the past. Also, there is a fix to prevent future market update errors (ie. insufficient storage).

16. Extra low dimness now available. Check out Settings -> Display (tweaked to not go QUITE as low as 4.7 did; further customization to follow here)

17. OTA patch capability - I can now push out updates to all phones running my ROM. Everything EXCEPT a full ROM update. That is better left to you or Rom Manager. But any other updates, including patching APK's, I can now do automagically
icon_e_smile.gif
:) ALSO NEW - normally everytime you enter Tools, it checks for updates. You can now turn this off. It will STILL check for updates once after each reboot, but not again until a reboot, or you turn the option back on.

CAVEAT: If you are running SPR the process cannot be fully automated. You will get to recovery but it will say update failed. You will need to mount the SD card, the newest zip needs to be renamed to update.zip. Unmount, go back and 'allow update' and then install update.zip. Reboot.

18. Chrome To Phone now included

19. Bypass lockscreen option added in Tools

20. MORE things to hide in the statusbar - alarm clock, cell signal, 3g signal, battery, adb, usb, bluetooth. I have heard you all ask for being able to customize images themselves. I will get there

21. All options (ie scripts) selected in Tools are remembered, at least until a reboot.

22. I'm told I don't promote this enough - you can change pretty much ALL colors in the statusbar, ON THE FLY. No reboot, no xml hacking.

I've been solely on SS since 4.4, so I'll be installing this shortly. Post any issues you all have here (as if you need me to tell you that ;)).

Enjoy.

Have been very excited to use this but unfortunately I am getting continual force closes. Every time I open the market and at startup. Very random processes, too. Even after a full wipe. I also tried fixing permissions, but to no avail.

Weird. I've been on it since yesterday evening and the only FC I get is when I try to set a custom color for the LED notification.

I installed with ROM manager and did a full wipe (restored with the rstapps script). Maybe try off there if you have it..?

Might as well. Now that you mention the FC with notifications, I noticed that, too. I'll let you know how it goes.

Both SS and UD are built from the latest source. FRG22D

Ok thanks for confirming. All of these developing between Droid and Captivate has me confused a bit. UD 9.0 is on it's way from what I heard....It'll be here soon. When that comes....idk what I will do. Chevy' SS or UD.....tough tough one.

I will try and port NexTheme to this buildon Monday....

Hmm, tried fixing permissions in ROM manager and with Chevy's script in Chevy No1 tools. Still get FCs every time with custom colors. Not a big deal for me, but I'd still like to give everyone notice.

No issues at all that I could find. Battery held up pretty well, pretty much on par wit BB.5, LFY1.6 and Sapp1.1.1. So far after playing around with SS and BB over the weekend I am liking SS a little bit better on my phone. Just runs smoother and a little faster, but by a very tiny margin.
