Please define for me the jargon used to discuss Droid. Such as:
Wigit, root, kernel, app, application, program, icon, and others that may be used. Thanks

A widget is an interactive screen icon, which might update information, for example. This is different from a normal icon which is just a picture which leads to the full program.

Rooting is gaining root access on your device. By default, phones do not have this because it allows you full control of your phone, carriers and phone companies do not want this. By gaining root access you can change the ROM (basically the operating system of the phone, and everything along with it), amongst other thing.

A kernel is part of an operating system that sits between the hardware and the top level which the user and programs interact with. It contains drivers and other things which enable core usability.

"App" is short for application. This is a synonym for program, like you would download on your computer.

Application: see above.

Program: Another word for application. Generally an app is found on a phone, and a program on a full computer.

Icon: A small image. Usually a .gif file for compression issues, it is used for shortcuts to programs and other such uses.
