app names changed?

I don't know how or why this happened, but two apps I installed from market called Bible and 2nd called Translator, suddenly show up in the apps area as something like "com.domain.appname.."

I cannot figure out how this happened, nor how to rename them.

Has anyone figured out why this is happening. I had downloaded the Swift twitter client and the name was fine for two days and suddenly that changed on me too. Doesn't seem like all apps are affected but some seem to be prone to it.

Fairly certain the Hero's OTA update fixed that.

Happened to me for PageOnce Assistant and the game Cestos.

The only way I found to fix it was to uninstall and reinstall. However, that fix lasts a day or two, because soon again the names changed.

It looks ugly! I hope this is coming in the Dec 11 fix, yo.

Been happening to me on my Eris, right after installing updates. I too, have been able to correct it by uninstalling and reinstalling

+1 for having this issue, although different apps are affected in different ways for me. The most common is having apps rename themselves to their package name, e.g. "Cestos" becomes "com.chickenbrickstudios.cestos_full", but I actually lose functionality in other apps. Also, some apps rename themselves to something else entirely ("Key Ring Reward Cards" becomes "Are you sure you want").

I have noticed that everything gets messed up after rebooting the phone. Currently, I can just uninstall/reinstall the affected apps from the Market, and this fixes it...but it is a pain to do this for so many apps. You can see why I try not to turn my phone off unless I have to...

Is anyone else experiencing similar weirdness with any of these apps? I'm quite looking forward to the upcoming OTA updates...I hope this gets fixed.

Along with the name change I also have the widget icon pictures showing up in my photo albums after an update. The only variable I have is installing an app killer. Do you all have app killers installed or am I chasing a bad lead?

It happened to on my phone with Swift. I don't have any app killers. I ended up just uninstalling it since Twidroid hadn't been force closing constantly anymore.

I have Advanced Task Manager...I usually let Android manage everything and use ATM only if the phone gets a little sluggish, or if I want to force a specific app to close.

It looks like I'll be getting a replacement Eris in the next couple of days (mine started having problems receiving text messages), so I'll let you know if I encounter the same problems with the new phone.

this happens to me too. Dolphin Browser changes and its annoying. The icon also changes. Shazam changed the icon on its own one day. When I uninstalled and reinstalled the original icon was there. Then a few hours later, changed again. I dont know what thats about........very annoying

Now that you mention it I realize that my Shazam icon changed too. It happened after I updated it, and for some reason I just thought it was supposed to happen. Then I went back to my downloads in the market and realized that no, it makes no sense that it just looks like a grey ice cube tray. I uninstalled it just now and installed it again, and it's the right icon. Weird.

You can add the Alkido Reader to the list that changes names as well. On the Verizon Droid Eris.

Then I went back to my downloads in the market and realized that no, it makes no sense that it just looks like a grey ice cube tray. yeah I hate that gray icon that it changed to. it looks horrible

I believe I read somewhere that this will be fixed in one of the OTA updates. I guess it's a known issue.

Happened to me to with Alkido Reader. After the name changed, it began to force close on me every use, so had to uninstall/reinstall. Of course, every time you do that you lose all the settings you tweaked, so it sucks.

And as far as rebooting, my phone just reboots itself every now and then. Did it to me today a little while ago, I was sitting on my couch, phone on the table, and I heard the start up chime, looked over and saw it was rebooting. WTF? I didn't have these problems with my dumbphone!

Rebooting issue isn't normal. I would bring it in to Verizon.

Yes! And reinstalling loses all the scores. It's okay since my boyfriend always beats my score. But frustrating.

I think I've noticed the Sky Map icon changes but I don't really use it too often.
