Accessories Just Got an aftermarket Droid X battery

Out of curiosity, does anyone know Verizon's/Motorola's policy on using third-party batteries? As far as what maybe covered or not covered regarding the phone's warranty?

Hey Jubba, if you have a dowloaded copy of the Droid X user Guide, on page 52 it has the usual statement that Motorola recommends that only Motorola batteries are use. It also states that the use of non-Motorola batteries or chargers will not be covered under warranty for any damage.

Here is a link to that User Guide : http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles...Static_Files/DROIDX_UG_final_68000202880b.pdf

I got 2 off ebay with an external charger for my std battery when my ext is installed. came with 2 knock offs
thought they were original but for 9 bucks for the lot I doubted even chinas low prices could match that for 2, plus the charger
when i used one today, the battery reads 100% on battery minder, and ? in the status bar. anyone else have problems with these cheap ones?If this is common, ill just spring for one more amazon one as a spare and put these in a desk drawer for emergency use only :)

Sometimes you run into a bad aftermarket battery. Heck even original ones have the worst time. Family member works at verizon. You wont beleive how many blackberry batteries go bad.

If the status reads (?), then the phone can sense it has an 'incorrect' battery in it. Then there is possibly a record of that in the phone??.......in other words.....voided warranty??

Absolutely not there is no record kept. Verizon doesnt even care or check for it lol. BTW with these aftermarket battery there is a chip inside that tricks it into thinking its an original battery so there is no record of an aftermarket battery to be kept anyways.
