Root The Official One-Click Rooting Solution for Droid Thread!!! :D :D LATEST: V2.0.4

@TheNewZackMorris - I don't remember that, but at least on mine and my friends' droids we use ROM Manager all the time!! :D

@msprygada - Which one rooted you successfully? Glad to hear you're rooted!

Note to all: I'm working on it a newer version, sorry 2.03 isn't working well for some of you guys (about half). I'm getting rid of the debugging email feature (and adding other trying stuff) because it causes problems. I feel that if I increase the delays a little more and get rid of that feature that I will have a pretty solid program. I'm adding a loop system that checks the debug.txt file then retries rooting (up to 3 times) so for those who are noticing it working the second or third time, this will help future users do so immediately :)

I've been downloading all versions and trying them, without much success.

I'm trying to run it on a Vista Home laptop.
My Droid 1 had been rooted using Universal Androot, so some the apps are already installed. The latest update closed the root access.
I'm running Froyo FRG22D.

The Soup or Root app runs and says it is finished, but none of the root apps I have are able to obtain root.

Any logs I can send you?

Update:
Wow. OK. I'm rooted again.
For some reason, the phone wasn't rebooting.
i used 2.02 beta, closed the app. Ran it a few times and it finally worked.

I would also like to root, And have been reading up on these threads a lot. Seems like a good program!

couple questions though - I am on windows vista x64, which version should I use? sounds like people are having some problems with 2.0.3....
also, I have never done this before, and am a bit nervous. is there anything I need to know first?
such as.... what are the motorola phone drivers, exactly? {noob}

Sorry I've been gone guys, a big accident happened where my girlfriend's brother got hit by a semi. Thank goodness he's okay, but I regret to inform you all that I won't be continuing production of Soup or Root until I can get myself another Droid; I gave mine to him because his ipod touch got demolished.

Thanks for the comments, good or bad. I'm glad some people enjoy being rooted and I'm sorry for problems others are having (I noticed it could be because of the new email debugging feature). I was on the verge of a new release and I might finish the code and then release it, but I can't guarantee it will work properly (as I don't have a Droid anymore).

You guys are much warmer than another forum I'm giving release info on, thanks for your patience :)

Hi Andrew,

I'm in the same situation you were in (previously rooted 2.1 with Universal Androot, but after the FRG22B update, I'm no longer rooted). I don't know if/what I have to do now, do I try to un-root with Universal Androot, do I have to uninstalled Universal Androot and/or Superuser, etc. etc. Can you tell me what you did please?

Thanks

Thanks for the support guys, I'm helping them get through it however I can!! The great news is that hr brother was released from the hospital yesterday with minimal injuries (big bump on his head) so we're counting our blessings!! Now he's happy with a new Droid that's rooted and souped up to pure awesomeness! :D :D

It's time for me to find a new Droid lol! If anyone has one (or knows a guy) that I could steal for a good price for development, I would be forever your friend!!

Craigslist is your friend. Don't go by list price; CL is a straw market and it's easy to haggle these guys down. I got mine for $140 (down from like $225!), 4 months used, in excellent condition. Just make sure you check the ESN (you probably already know all this already).

You replaced an iTouch with a Droid? Doesn't seem even, but hey your a good man. Your gf's brother wouldn't happen to be this guy... would he?:

Thanks for all the help. I hope I can get it working, going to try different versions that you posted. Got my SD card cleared and fixed, so we'll see. While your buying a new Droid, buy yourself a Mac and write a program for us Mac users!!!

I went to my uncles and ran about 3 or 4 different versions of your program. I had problems with the Moto drivers at first- I wanted to run 1.8rA and I installed them and let them sit on the desktop as a zip file. I guess I didn't do it right or something the first time. Then I tried out 2.01 a couple times. Finally I clicked "No" when it prompted me if I had the Moto drivers, then it installed them correctly. Ran the program again and again, nothing. Tried 2.02, same result. Right before I was about to throw in the towel, I decided to mount my Droid to search through the folders to see if there was a Super user app sitting there that needed to be removed before I tried again. I didn't find anything, but I ran 2.02 again and it worked!

Now I just need to figure out what I'm going to do. I know the possibilities, just not sure how to go about doing them yet (must research). I dled Titanium and and running a backup very shortly. Thanks again for making this for us and helping us out. Good luck on getting a new Droid? ps- what phone are you going to use now?

Okay, I was able to get a hold on a friend's Droid and although I'm as sick as a dog today, have a new version ready for you guys!!! :D I'm compiling it now and will include the download link in a few minutes :)

Notes about Soup or Root 2.04 Beta:
~ Changed delays to be pretty long (it's going to take about 3-4 minutes to root, go make a sandwich)
~ No more txt file debugging (caused too many issues with some peeps)
~ driver installation is now a button on main screen
~ No more "Are you sure you want to root?" so make sure you're ready before pressing "Root Me!!"
