I have been using the INC for about 2 months now and i really do like the phone...

As all of you know, the battery sucks. I picked up the 1500 battery about the same time the 2.2 came out and the battery life dropped over the 2.1/stocker.
I thought it may have been the battery so i used the stock 1300 for a while and it was TERRIBLE.

To add to the issue, the battery takes longer to charge then it does die. And thats why im posting this...

could someone give me a list of what i need to do while rooting my phone and installing custom roms? that will speed up charge time?

Normally i wont ask for help like this but i have zero time to sit down and read about everything. Just looking for a simple fix to get me by for the next few months.

wifi tether would be nice too.. liked that when i was 2.1 rooted

Are you a real heavy user? I've found the battery life to be more than acceptable on either the 1300 stock battery and my new $14 ebay bidallies htc oem 1500 battery. Have you ever monitored your phone for a day or 2 to see what app/s could be causing this quick drain? Do you have a ton of stuff sync'ing in the background constantly? So many factors you need to try and narrow this down.

As for the charging on 2.2 it is slow, but purposely so. If your getting less battery life than it takes to charge then something is wrong. idk what.

Have you seen the thread about amazon mp3

Maybe get some time during a wknd and research it's going to be awfully hard to just diagnose and get advice when there are so many factors that relate to battery life and use.

Thank you for the reply, i forgot to add that im really not using many app's at all. Soundhound, zedge, and cam360 pro. Although i only use soundhound maybe once a day. and Camera on the weekends.

when i go into my batt usage the android system is always number one. anywhere from 30-50%

Im a heavy sms user. Not so much data at all.

I think i would be happier if the battery charged faster. Coming from a BB bold, that battery was fully charged in 25mins. But i cant go back to that phone after having this.

Well there are kernels (if your rooted of course) that will allow it to charge very fast (aka ruby and it's stock kernel is a blazing fast charge), but imo I don't think this is good for your battery and/or phone. Weird that adroid system is that high mine is most often dead last unless I'm playing with the phone A LOT and tweaking/changing the layouts.

Maybe not what you want to hear, but have you tried the app "system panel" or something like "spare parts" to see what is either eating your battery or maybe keeping your phone awake? What is your average uptime vs awake time?

I might just have to do that.... i have the bestbuy replacement on the phone so im not worried about messing it up honestly. I never really change anything at all on the phone. Sometime turn wifi on when I am around it and know ill be there for a while.

Never tried the apps, i will download one of them right now and see what it shows.. My current uptime is 17:30 awake 5:27. Does this reset? I pretty much have the phone on a charger anytime im around one just because im afraid to be stuck with a dead phone. (currently charging via USB/trickle)

Yea it resets as soon as you rebooth your phone. Those times are fine. How is your signal from verizon? Trying to narrow it down here. Did you take a look at that amazon thread I linked?

Sounds like your not a heavy user at all. It also could be a hardware issue, but you need to troubleshoot it some more I believe. Have you taken a look at the tips thread on things to do to maximize battery life without crippling your smart phone? Have you also tried a bump charge?

My signal is very good at home and work, however it is Terrible at school and if i dont turn off the Mobile when there ill lose 40-50% of the battery within my 3hr class.

Edit: ive read the maximize bat thread maybe three times when i first got the phone. I bump charge when possible but i hate it because i always have msgs coming in and cant afford to not get them right away. so i do it maybe twice a week

I just got a min to sit down, I will read that now. And thank you for helpin me this much so far.

You may have to bite the bullet and just get the OEM 2150mah battery. I can't even go half a day with my 1300 battery. Yeah, it's big and the back sticks out and it detracts from the phone's original svelteness, but with the 2150 I don't bother with managing any apps or settings. I use what I want to use and don't think twice about it. Some days it has 70% at the end of the day and some days it's down to 15%, but it always gets me through the whole day without worrying about carrying around a charger, and I can use my phone and all the 'incredible' things it can do without having to turn off or limit my use of anything. Ever since I got the 2150 I haven't use my car charger once, even while using gps or streaming radio.

I just went into the amazon app and it was updating all the time so i unchecked it and did a force close on the app. hopefully that makes a difference.

I really dont want to go to a huge battery but that might be the answer, ill give this a few days.

If anyone else has info on those kernals that charge fast please voice your opinion.. very tempted.

thanks again everyone
